We enjoyed our two-night stay at the hotel. The staff at the reception were incredibly accommodating, offering us a ground floor room without even needing to be asked. This was especially helpful given my husband's mobility limitations. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with a queen-sized bed that was perfectly fine for us. The location was excellent, with numerous restaurants nearby. We were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary bottled water in the room. One of the highlights of our stay was the stunning sunset views from our room, which made for a truly memorable experience.

1. The location is more suitable for younger people (need to go through a steep slope), better to drive there 2. Service is great 3. The room is in an English style 4. Rooms are clean and tidy

The room looks very clean and feels relatively new Hygiene: The bathroom is large and clean Service: The front desk service is very good. Although they get off work early, they always greet us when they see us Environment: The view from the room is very good, and we saw the sunset

The space is adequate for three people. The environment is clean and the service is good. The surrounding environment is very good and the scenery is picturesque! It is 150 kilometers to drive to Cradle Mountain from here. It's pretty good as a transit hotel.

Affordable accommodation experience, with plenty of parking spaces but on a slope, overall quite comfortable.

The location is not ideal, the room is clean, but there is a lack of charging facilities, and the staff is friendly and hospitable.

Having last reviewed Areca in Jan 2021, we can report that it is still clean, comfortable, quiet, and great value for money. Our choice was a King room on the upper floor with superb views, responsive wi-fi, and room controlled air-con. The premium for a King room is very small. Definitely worth considering for a most spacious room, as well as one of the most comfortable huge beds that we have ever slept in. It does involve heading up one flight of stairs (no lift) and there are also steps upto reception at the adjoining Waratah. Therefore Areca might not be the best choice for those with mobility issues, but business travellers in particular should have a good night at a conveniently located boutique hotel with a study desk and parking on site. We again found the staff to be most pleasant and helpful. Spot-on suggestions were made about breakfast options as Areca no longer offers breakfast, contrary to information on this Tripadvisor listing. We also went with 4 stars rather than 5 as the rather austere room chairs provide a nice looking decor, but perhaps are a bit dated and lacking in longer stay comfort. All in all though, we would be happy to return again, and recommend Areca as a great value option on the fringe of Launceston CBD

The hotel wasn't easy to get to and had limited carparking. There were a lot of steep steps to get to reception. Luckily I was with my husband so he went reception as I have mobilty issues and can't use steps. The room was ok. The shower was mouldy around the edges and the tiles were VERY slippery. Not good for someone with mobilty issues. The bed was average. While it had some nice views, I wouldn't stay here again.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking your time to review your recent stay. We are glad to hear you were pleased with our guest service and value for money for your stay but sad to hear the overall satisfaction was lacking. As the property is located on top of a hill there is a steep laneway to get to the building. Luckily the car parking area is flat and there are no steps to the building. The Reception is located upstairs indeed, but we are always happy to meet the guests downstairs in case the stairs are an issue. There are two parking areas, a spot per each guest room. We apologies for the shower area and get it fixed asap. Thank you once again for your feedback. This gives us an opportunity to make improvements and our future guests' stays more comfortable. All the very best, Piia

The rooms are quietly located away from the hustle and bustle with wonderful views. The rooms are spacious and modern. The City Park, CBD and night-life is quite close. We enjoyed our stay. The management is friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is located on a steep slope about 10-15 mins walk to the heart of city centre. If you are driving, there are limited parking lots in front of the hotel which is complimentary, that can saves you easily AUD 20 for the overnight parking compared to other hotels in more central location which has an on-site parking. The room is basic but clean. The front desk is operating on limited hours hence you may need to get the room key from the safe box if you arrive late into Launceston. Full instructions will be given to you prior to arrival and it is easy. The hotel is of the low rise without any elevator hence if you have mobility issues especially with big luggage, that may pose a challenge. If you are on the highest floor (3rd floor), you can have a sweeping view over the Tamar Valley which is quite a nice view to behold. The bathroom is basic with a stading shower, WC and wash basin. The decor is a little dated but everything is working so I would say it is still a comfortable stay.

I visit Launceston a few times a year & while it was my first time staying at Areca Launceston, I will definitely stay here again. Tucked behind, & managed in conjunction with the stunning Waratah on York, the Areca Launceston was simple, clean & comfortable. As someone who likes a firm bed, the bed was sensational - probably the most comfortable I've found In Launceston to date. I was also particularly happy to see windows that opened enough to let fresh air through. Speaking of the windows, the view is lovely, overlooking City Park & down to the river. Which is the only potential downside of this accommodation - it's perched on one of the steepest streets I've ever seen! Definitely a leg burner. There is a less steep option, but you are on a hillside, and the city centre is down the hill.
Response from Property: Hi Toni619, Thank you for your wonderful rating and detailed review of your recent stay at Areca Launceston. We are very happy that you enjoyed the comfort of your room and appreciated the positive (and challenging!) benefits of our lofty location. We would love to welcome you back when you are in lovely Launceston again. Kind regards, Christine, Areca Launceston.
