If you have enough of the faceless and internationally standardised luxury of the Hiltons and Mariotts and want go back to basics you are in the right place: This is a small historic alpine hotel as they were in the beginnings of tourism. It is situated in a calm unspoilt village in a wide gorgeous valley. Everyhing is made out of wood, the rooms are cozy, many with balcony and fabulous view. Service is personal and friendly. Comfort is adequate for the alps. The cuisine and restaurant are first class. The loudest noise comes from the village river, however on friday evenings there is sometimes folk music in the restaurant,. This is an ideal starting point for promenades, trecking, mountain-biking and alpinism. If you appreciate this sort of historic adventure you get unbeatable value for your money and more Switzerland than in any four-. and five star hotel. .

This place is a gem in the small village of Lauenen not far from Gstaad. It was fantastic to return here after 24 years. The staff are amazing! The food was superb with a healthy, great selection on the breakfast buffet. I was very surprised at the reasonable rates although I did visit during the “off season “ in September. The hosts offered me a “Gstaad Pass” which enabled free bus transportation and other discounts. If you’re looking for a rustic, quaint, typically Swiss, quiet place, with great rates, this is the place. I highly recommend it. Thanks to Thomas and Ruth for a memorable stay. It was great to see you all again! ❤️😍❤️😍❤️

Das Hotel stammt aus dem Jahr 1900 und vermochte uns zu überzeugen mit dem Charme. Es sind deutliche Gebrauchsspuren vorhanden, was uns aber keineswegs stört. Die Chefin wie auch das Personal sind zuvorkommend nett. Alles ist sauber und gemütlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist ordentlich gross - und dieses Buffet war genau so gross, als wir nur noch zu dritt im Hotel übernachteten. Dies hätten wir nicht erwartet - wäre auch nicht nötig gewesen. Das Nachtessen war alle drei Abende wunderbar - alles einfache Küche - aber top! Danke für die Gastfreundschaft

Een degelijk en authentiek hotel in het kleine dorp Lauenen, buiten Gstaad. Eenvoudig maar goed. Persoonlijke service. Heerlijk eten, en uitgebreid ontbijt. Verwacht geen grote luxe, maar geniet van authentiek Zwitserland. Auto voor de deur. Prachtige wandelingen, kort en lang. Rust en ruimte!

Das Hotel sieht von der Strasse aus etwas gar alt und renovationsbedürftig aus und überrascht in der Gaststube und den Zimmern dann mit urigem Charme: die Gänge sind eng, niedrig und die Treppe ächzt. Das Doppelzimmer war sehr gross und mit Schränken, Sofa, Stühlen und Tisch/TV ausgestattet. Die Matratze war eher hart, was uns entgegenkam. Auf dem Balkon konnte man die letzten Sonnenstrahlen geniessen. Das Frühstücksbuffet überzeugte mit Qualität und Quantität, es fehlten einzig Speck und warme Eierspeisen. Einzige Kritikpunkte: die Preise des Restaurants wie auch des Hotels sind eher überdurchschnittlich, beim Frühstück dürfte ein 2. Mal nachgefragt werden nach Kaffee und der Check-in wurde so rasch abgewickelt, dass viele Infos nicht erwähnt wurden.
