Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort

Firstly we got off to a bad start. After flying out at 6.40am we arrived at the hotel at 13.00 to be told the room wasn’t ready. After waiting 1 1/4 hours we finally got in the room at 14.15. The room was quiet nice (although a little tired looking)with a large balcony and view. It unfortunately then carried on going down hill. The restaurant at night was very busy, very dated looking more like an old rustic restaurant. The servery was very badly laid out and food was what I would not call 5 star. A lot of the food was displayed at an ambient temperature and the hot food servery was very untidy. Breakfast in the morning was awful (see photos). The bacon was served in clumps rather than rashers and the scrambled egg was either runny of cooked to death. There was only ever one chef doing omelettes and sometimes you waited ages just for them to start your omelette. Although some staff were nice, majority were unfriendly and some looked scruffy. After I asked one member of staff for saucers for our cups he left them on a table near the coffee machine and expected me to fetch them. When I did one of the saucers had remains of food on it. Yuk. The restaurant and food quality I would say was awful. On the upside we did use our one allocated visit to the A La Carte restaurant which was very nice. But had we gone half an hour later we noticed a lot of people waiting a long time for food. Its as if the hotel hasn’t enough staff. By the pool the sunbeds were very uncomfortable and a lot were broken and dirty. On the up side although we didn’t get involved in any activities the animation team were all nice and seemed to do a brilliant job. Always happy and motivated. We witnessed the room being cleaned twice and it was literally done in ten minutes. My slippers at the end of one weeks stay were filthy on the soles (see photo). Normally in hotel you get a card to put on the bed if you want your sheets changing our bed wasn’t changed all week and no card either. At check out we noticed we had been charged for mini golf which we never played and been charged 7 times for a charity donation that was also never mentioned. When the receptionist amended the bill he left it on the reception desk rather than bringing it back to his desk where I was sat. Like he couldn’t be bothered. We’ve stayed in Tenerife a lot and recently Lanzarote and always receive a five star experience. We chose the Sheraton as it is known as an upmarket brand but I’m afraid it has put us off staying in Fuerteventura ever again. Definitely not 5 star and far from it.

Just back from a week staying at the Sheraton. This was our first stay at this hotel after staying at the Barcelo Mar for many years. What stood out for our family from the moment we arrived was the service at the Sheraton which was absolutely outstanding. Our daughter has both a milk and gluten intolerance and the staff made my daughter fresh pancakes each morning and spaghetti, pizza or chicken and rice for dinner. We stayed in a premium family junior suite which although a little dated was absolutely huge. As well as a large king size bed they added two single beds for the kids which was great as we were expecting a sofa bed. The huge walk in wardrobe with plenty of hangers, iron and ironing board was also a lovely addition. The room also had both a jacuzzi bath and large shower which again we appreciated. There was no issues with sun beds with many empty all day long. Pools were not salt water which was much appreciated by the kids as our previous visits to CDF the pools were salt water which stung their eyes. Would just like to thank Tom, Elena and in particular Michela again for making this a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and going above and beyond and we will definitely be back.

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the lobby area was. We were given champagne and the service was impeccable. Rooms really nice we booked a standard room and wow it’s large with a beautiful balcony that has large wicker chairs. Generally the hotel is lovely but definitely now not a 5 star, it needs some TLC in certain places to bring it up to the high standard it should be. Sunbeds are plastic and lots broken, along with the pillows (straps broken). Floor tiles need replacing in areas. A few tiles missing from the pool but other than this the pools are lovely! In my opinion leaves and dirty glasses etc should be cleared continually - we noticed this was not happening. Games room for kids needs a complete makeover! Glass doors taking you from rooms to pool were not cleaned the entire time (8 days) and were covered in finger prints. Hallways need repainting in areas. Dining chairs in the buffet are knackered and the cusion part that you sit on are worn and actually have no cusion left and are grubby! The hotel is beautiful but certain areas need upgrading as they’ll start loosing regular guests such as us. It seems to have gone down hill over last 12 months since being taken over by Marriott!

Just to note, the only reason I haven’t given five stars is check in could have been better, we arrived around 8.30pm and it felt like the main priority was to get a credit/debit card off us to preload it with any charges to the room, not an option to pay as you go and a heads up on this before staying would have let us know to expect this. It would have also been nice to be asked if this was our first stay, as we weren’t familiar with the hotel, instead we got a very formal download of the basics, no map of the hotel, or that we could get pool towels, no offer of help with luggage and no welcome drink (we did manage however to make the buffet before it closed). It was only on check out I realised how inconsistent this was as I stood behind someone checking in who got all of the above! Aside from that, we had a really great stay and would definitely come back again. The rooms were clean, spacious and we had a lovely view of the sea and hotel gardens. Rooms were cleaned daily, and towels were changed, all the staff here are friendly and work really hard. We stayed on a half board basis, breakfast had lots of choice and also the same for the evening meal, it felt quite relaxed especially in comparison to previous buffet experiences we have had in other hotels. We did a lot of exploring of the island during our stay so we didn’t stay around the pool much but when we did we did manage to get sun beds at different times of the day, be aware the shaded beds get taken up quickly but it was good to see no reserving of sun beds. The for food and drink in this hotel did seem more on the expensive side, obviously a choice whether to drink in the hotel as there are lots of less expensive options outside to choose from. Saying that though the hotel entertainment in the evenings was good and they had some great singers, and we did enjoy the cocktails. The piano bar had a great atmosphere and lovely outside seating area, so this did compensate for the price of the drinks.

Fantastic return trip and a brilliant holiday! We arrived very early, well before lunchtime and were surprised to find our room was ready and that we had been given a free upgrade to a sea view, along with a free family spa pass, cava and chocolates to the room and a free upgrade to the a la carte restaurant one evening. My husband had emailed prior to request something and the email had been taken into account. This is a very spacious, clean and well maintained hotel. The grounds are lovely the pools are big. We NEVER once had an issue with sunbeds whatever time of day and often came back from the beach late morning to see 50+ available sunbeds. I’m not sure how this is the case but it makes such a difference! The kids (6 & 6) enjoyed the daily activities in the pool such as the running mat and inflatable slide and were also pleased they could use their own inflatable tyres in the pool. The proximity to the gorgeous beach is so handy. The water is mostly calm with golden sand and clear water. The rooms are large and spacious with a huge bathroom area and large balcony. It’s a bit strange how you can almost see through into the next door balcony though. We had room 336 which had a stunning view. The rooms are also very clean and the maids are very helpful. The restaurant is really pretty outside and very spread out, compared to some hotels where you feel on top on the next table. It felt so quiet. The waiters are all friendly and efficient. The food was very good and hot. The inside decor definitely needs updating and modernising. The veranda bar was ok for a quick bite and for ice creams/beer around the pool. The mini disco was loved by my kids and they enjoyed getting a lolly after each one. We didn’t use the kids club but the other kids around the pool seemed to enjoy this a lot. We stayed half board and the Spar at the local shopping centre was handy for baguettes, drinks and snacks for the room. The manager was frequently seen throughout the day and often said hello at breakfast time; it was good to know he was personally checking on the restaurant standards. The staff in general are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The kids remembered Davide from a previous visit and he was so good to them, helping them with their Spanish etc. the animation team are all very friendly and funny too. Overall, we had a brilliant family holiday which represented excellent value for money. On the way back to the airport we got the jet2 bus (but it is worth getting a taxi on the way to the hotel at least approx 18 euros before tip) and as we drove round the other hotels I can safely say there was not one that I would have stayed in- the Sheraton was far more superior!

Me, my husband and 14 year old daughter stayed here for a week in August. We had a junior suite on the third floor with a sea view. This was very spacious, had an enormous balcony with sun beds and chairs, a whirlpool bath, separate shower, walk in closet, very big comfortable bed, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, tv with English channels etc. Fantastic room. The hotel has excellent facilities. The swimming pools are great, some of them are acclimatised, and there is a kids pool. A lifeguard is on duty in the daytime. A gate leads directly to the prom and down to the beach. The hotel has a decent gym and a spa, the spa costs extra. The hotel serves a very good breakfast, we didn’t eat any other meals in the hotel as we prefer to go out in the evening. There is entertainment in the evening and some activities at the pool in the day, there is also a games room. The hotel is located on the edge of Caleta, a 15-20 minute stroll away from the main tourist centre. There are a few nice restaurants on the sea front, Frasquita and Smile Italian are both good. In the other direction there is a big shopping centre with a supermarket. There is a public bus stop close to the hotel or you can book a rental car in the hotel lobby. We rented a car for three days which gave us time to see most of the island, visit the zoo, waterpark, sand dunes, Calderon Hondo, popcorn beach etc. Fuerteventura is very breezy so remember to pack pegs to clamp your towel down to the lounger! As the hotel is close to the airport the transfer only takes about 15 minutes by taxi and costs less than €20. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Sheraton for 4 nights for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is absolutely stunning, in a great location for groceries, restaurants, clothes shopping. Staff were very welcoming and considerate, always happy to help and offered a service with a smile. The only issue we had was the room cards kept faulting, so we had to visit the desk daily to sort this, it took minutes and always received an apology for the inconvenience. We weren’t the only ones who experienced this as others queued with the same issue. We were told it’s interference with our phones and to keep them separate. This was not always possible if we carried light to breakfast or at poolside. It did not take away from our experience hence no loss of stars. We would absolutely return in the future!!
