This is the most disappointed I've been in a long time. I've been so looking forward to eating chicken in the basket since I'd seen it on their lunch time menu. I took my wife out as a treat following a week in hospital. I obviously ordered my chicken in the basket and Pam ordered Macaroni cheese. My plate arrived with 3 stips of chicken in batter, peas and french fries on a plate, Pams mac and cheese was over stodgy and tasteless. She took it back to the bar and the manageress basically said eat it or leave it you'll still have to pay. She then ordered a burger that came in a 3" bun charred round the edges, she managed to eat about 25% of it. The manageress came over to ask how things were, I told her that this was the funniest chicken in the basket I've ever had, and said I'm still waiting to see the basket, that didn't even raise a smile My wife pointed out the charred burger but she didn't even care. No sorry or anything. I paid the bill just under £30 I'm sure if I knew the law better i could have refused to pay. At lest i know they will never get another penny out of me or my friends or family

The photos don't do this gorgeous place justice! Set on a quiet, historical square, it's got a feeling of comfortable decadence. I stayed one night and had breakfast. From arrival to leaving, staff went above and beyond to make me comfortable. The food is truly excellent and the room - room 5 - was utterly luxurious. A little tricky if you have mobility problems, stairs up to the room then stairs within the room to the bathroom, but the vintage gorgeousness makes up for it. Huge thanks to the staff for helping me with bags, tweaking my breakfast order perfectly and generally being like a home from home (but much posher!) I hope I need to come back again, this will be my first port of call.

From Guinness on arrival served by a lovely polite lady, to a fabulous room with a view over Dalton Square, a brilliant dinner, bed & breakfast deal, lamb hotpot exceptional, a fabulous large Sunday roast and desserts thrown in, all served by Reece during the evening who was just charming, what more can we say?! Well we can; breakfast was fabulous with great friendly service. Great chefs must definitely know what they are doing. Great shower and huge superking bed!

Friends were staying at the hotel and we joined them for dinner. They were fulsome in their praise of their room, the service, and the breakfast in particular. Our evening meal was exceptional, and our experience was greatly enhanced by the professional and personable Reece. Recommend the Lancashire cheese and red onion pie. Thank you for persuading me, Reece! We wouldn't hesitate to stay and/or dine here should we be in the area again.

My twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we decided to drop by The Borough Pub,been here before on previous holidays to this fascinating city, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A great looking pub, interior is superb, multi roomed, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, a cool looking serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We had a study of their real ale's which I must say I was impressed with, in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Hawkshead Brewery, these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, golden pale ale, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Borough Pub we had a great time. The Borough Pub is easy to locate on Dalton Square. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Lancaster.

On Dalton Square theres a great Georgian era hotel and pub that offers a really good food and drink menu and it was just one of the many pub's/bar's and restaurant's that me and my twin brother went to on our visit to Lancaster. Housed in a Georgian era building'this is a superb hotel and pub with a fantastic look and feel with a multi-roomed interior with a superb old world charm.Theres really good seating options throughout it's interior and when we visited it was very busy. We visited here early in the afternoon on a roasting hot day and as we'd only just had a meal we had a few cask ales. The ale's we had where from Hawkshead brewery which were perfectly served and were well priced considering the place we where in and the beers we were having. A superb pub in a superb area and it's well worth going to.(This is my second review of the Borough). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-Don't Know.

I arrived and the young lady who checked me in could not have been more helpful! She had to wait for her supervisor to check me in so she helped me with my bags while i waited . The hotel is very clean, the room immaculate and modern. Very dog friendly. The restaurant was friendly and food was lovely. All in all a fab experience.
