The lake view room is very good. There are few people and the water is very clear, which is suitable for relaxing. When it rains, the lake is black, and when the sun comes out, the sky is very blue without a filter.

Beautiful tranquil oasis, everything we needed and very pleasant helpful staff. The on-site glow worm trail was amazing as were the many bush walks close to the lodge. Comfortable and clean. The only issue we had was the cabin door didn’t lock and the shower could have been a bit higher positioned so over head, but really they didn’t take away from our wonderful experience. We will be back :)

The lodge itself is lovely, with bungalows set in the bush by a peaceful lake, however we must have picked the wrong weekend to stay for our retreat. There was a group of 30 odd noisy people doing some kind of workshop involving power tools from dawn to late at night. They were up at 5.30am, talking and laughing loudly outside our cabin and returning after midnight each day with no regards for other residents of the lodge. Their leader was coarse and rude and responded to our pledge for a little peace with utmost contempt. There was no manager around to discuss the infuriating situation. A total waste of a weekend and of money.

Okataina Lakes Lodge / 27 September 2024 Finally on our long awaited break, and home free, a truely great location, right on the waters edge, just my beautiful wife and me. The lake water lapping, the Tui in full song, the brisk natural fresh air, perfect for relaxing all day long. The peaceful bush walks, the welcoming glow worms, the amazing stunning sunsets and the occasional lake bird squarks. With the most comfiest super king beds, and oodles of space in our room, such welcoming friendly hosts, a perfect combo….boom!! The drive not an issue, no restaurant, no stress, they gave plenty of warning and we came well prepared. A stay I will always remember, such a soleful, relaxing, stunning place, we totally recommend a few nights stay here to escape your own rat race We will be back without hesitation, to a place you can easily find zen, thank you so much for opening this up to the public, a pure unassuming and easy 10 out of 10. Lakes Lodge is well located and our room had a lovely lake view. There are lots of positives about the location including access to the lake, good views and a really stunning glow worm walk. The room was comfortable, but could do with a bit of updating and a few changes would make it really lovely. One criticism is the height of the shower is so low that you'd have to be about a meter tall to get under it. The other main issue is that no food options were available unless you were part of a large group. It would have been nice not to have to drive 20-30 minutes for dinner every day.

The view here is amazing, we got a complimentary bt of plonk for our anniversary which was lovely, my only issue was lack of care of the cabins. The curtains in the room were stained, unclean..the bathroom was shabby..could be amazing if maintained.
