A very clean, quiet and very friendly family run hotel not to far from centre of luz. Stayed here for 8 days and it was so relaxing. A decent size pool, 2.2m at one end, lots of loungers for everyone. Free WiFi all around the hotel. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh bedding and great free air-conditioning. Decent snacks and super bock on tap. Luno (waiter) very friendly and witty, joking all day. Would 100% stay here against, loved our time here. Met some lovely people here too

The place is nice and remote and very peaceful. We stayed here during the first week of August. The staff work hard and they look after their guests. It’s obvious they take pride and it really shows. The rooms can vary, some are very nice, especially near the pool. They are more like studio rooms and very spacious. Both rooms we had also had a TV and a fridge. Quite a few reviews mention having a car. I recommend this, I thought I could get away without a car hire but later regretted it. Although saying that Bolt, Uber and FreeNow were great apps for cabs and the fares were crazy cheap. There is a 30 min walk to get to the beach, just check Apple/Google maps (we ignored the ‘private’ sign as it was a public path anyway :P Pros: - Wonderful staff - Peaceful location - Beautiful scenery - Amazing pool - Excellent rooms (ones we had 1 and 2) - Breakfast was ok - Manager lady is super helpful - Air-con - Fridge (for nice cold drinks) - Secure gated access Cons: - You need a car ideally - Some rooms didn’t look too great - Breakfast was ok - No dinner (although we did find out there was dinner if you asked, they would tell you what was available that evening) - No shops for quite a distance (if no car) I know I listed some cons, but they are more of guidance to take precautions like hire a car, get snacks and drinks from the local Spar, etc.. I loved our stay here, it was wonderful.
Hotel Belavista Da Luz

We are regular visitors to lovely Praia da Luz. This was the first time at this hotel and we were very happy with our stay. We had premium sea view room with lovely views over the pool and out to sea. Room was large and plenty of storage space, the best we’ve had for a long time. Fridge worked well, as did the air con. Free safe and pool towels. Comfortable bed. Room cleaned to good standard. Large and fluffy bath towels. On the minus side- The safe was quite small, but just about managed to fit in our iPads. It locked with a key as opposed to digital locking, and the room key was rather cumbersome too. Didn’t like the plastic shower curtain. Breakfast was fine. Not a huge selection, but adequate. The bread rolls and the cakes were delicious. Great pool area, never a problem getting a sun bed at any time of day. Hotel Location very quiet and peaceful, but it was a steep climb up from the restaurants, shops and beach (bearing in mind we’re in our 70’s with bad knees). But that wouldn’t put us off staying there again. There is a bus stop outside hotel, but out of season the buses stop quite early.
Luz Bay Hotel

Just so people know what the hotel rooms come with, Hair dryer, towels, safe (Need to pay a deposit for), Wifi (10 euros for the week), air conditioning, coat hangers, extra pillows and duvet covers, plus hand towels and soap. I wouldn't recommend in January. Not due to the hotel but because the majority of the town is closed. Still, the beach is a few minute walk which has lovely sand beaches. The hotel itself is pretty decent, keep in mind it was nearly empty when I went. Alisson, who works in the restaurant, served me in the breakfast and dinner 6/7 times. He is lovely polite and friendly. One issue with the hotel is that for dinner you get the no choice of starter, as it was a different soup each night, and then a choice between fish, pork and chicken for a main (Which you have to make the choice at breakfast) The food was normally pretty good. Just so you know that the drinks you get with dinner you are charged at when you leave the hotel at the end of your stay. Breakfast was a buffet which offered cooked meats and eggs, cold meats and different bread types. There was a girl on the front desk most of the time, Danielle, she was kind enough to sort us out a new room when we were having issues (room was freezing) she also booked taxis for the local zoo. Overall the stay was really enjoyable and the relaxing week away that was needed. 4/5 stars. Maybe 5 if there was a little more choice with dinner.
