Magnific Rock - Surf Resort & Yoga Retreat Nicaragua

I went to Popoyo on a surf trip and chose MagRock to stay at. I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service. We stayed in the penthouse which had a beautiful patio overlooking the Pacific and Magnific Rock. The staff was incredibly attentive and everyone seemed to be keyed into what our plans were every day. The surf directors Brian and Jess put me on some of the best waves I have ever scored and provided excellent coaching and amazing photo/video. Lastly, we wanted to check out Granada and the GM of the hotel took us personally and showed us around the city and we took a boat tour. We fell in love with Popoyo and MagRock. I will 100% be back.

I stayed at Magnific Rock for 8 days/7 nights in Feb 2024 as a participant in a private yoga/surf retreat. There were 14 of us from the USA and everyone had an amazing time. The rooms are basic, comfortable, clean and offer an amazing view of the ocean. The food was fresh, healthy, delicious and plentiful. Something for everyone including the vegans in our group. Some of us participated in the yoga classes offered by Mag Rock and enjoyed them in addition to the yoga taught by our private retreat instructors. The yoga room overlooks the ocean, has plenty of yoga mats and blocks as well as aerial silks. Some of our group participated in surfing either solo or with a small group lesson. The beach is amazing and great for walking, running and swimming. Every staff member was helpful, friendly and remembered our names which blew me away. There are a couple of small shops within walking distance to pick up snacks or basic supplies. Lots of hostels and restaurants also within walking distance. In-room massages can be arranged for $50 which is a bargain. Nicaragua is a humbling country to visit. Mag Rock fits in perfectly with the vibe of the country.

I had the most amazing time during my stay at magnific rock. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and attentive. Massimo greeted us and made sure that we had everything we needed at all time. Food was amazing and we were graciously attended by all staff, they were accommodating for my vegetarian diet. I thoroughly enjoyed the yoga classes daily and took an amazing Aerial class with Ella. My friend and I also took surf lessons with Billy who was an excellent teacher and had us catching many waves in the beautiful beach in Popoyo. The view was perfect, everyone at the resort was incredible and I can not wait to come back!

What a magnificent experience! I will never forget such a beautiful time here at Magnific Rock. My girlfriend and I booked 4 nights and five days under the yoga package and added surf sessions on top.

Magnific rock is the absolute best. If you’re coming to Central America and want to surf, don’t go anywhere else. The highlight was our time with the surf instructors. I learned more than I have anywhere else. The way they taught, explained and encouraged made this trip extraordinary and unique. Billy is unreal. He’s attentive to taking care of your needs at the hotel and in the water. As a lifelong lifegaurd he takes care of watching out for all factors in the water and I felt 100% safe and with him. Brian, another surf instructor, was so solid and a killer surfer to learn from. Hank got some amazing pictures, he’s just the best. These guys have your back. Jackson & David, owners, are clearly invested in this project and welcome you in to the resort the way would welcome you into their home. Rarely do you find this combination and we feel so lucky to have made these memories and lifelong friends at mag rock!

Not only the accommodation, but the staff is top notch!! From planning, to arriving and being there, I felt extremely taken care of right up until the end. The full panoramic view, is breath taking every second of the day, with a perfect view to keep an eye on the surf, especially while enjoying some of the best food and drinks you can find around. The surf, is the most amazing waves for anyone beginner to advanced. Something for everyone! And the surf instructors are some of the best around. So talented and passionate in what they do. if you ever get the opportunity to stay at Magnific rock and meet Billy, do it!! Billy is not only an incredible surf instructor, but dedicated to making your stay the best it could be! He took us on surf adventures, took awesome pictures and videos and made them into edits and was just overall so kind and genuine. I’d go back in a heart beat!! If you have the time to do a full surf camp, do it with Magnific rock. It’s the place to be! You’ll have a hard time leaving. Thanks to all the Mag Rock staff, hope to be back one day soon:)
