Stay Away! This is a one-star hotel with three-star prices! -Located on a busy highway with a RR track nearby, this is a noisy property and I’m surprised Red Lion has allowed their brand to be associated with this property. The extent of their landscaping consists of large flowerpots. containing four plastic flowers each, surrounded by cigarette butts and broken asphalt. The first impression of this property is definitely sketchy. The rooms are actually better than the exterior presents and have been somewhat renovated, it’s nice to close the room door and escape the worn brown indoor / outdoor carpet in front of the motel doors. The shower and soap dispensers are good but the small table that is supposed to work as a desk is not located near any unused outlets and has no lighting. (Had to move it cross the room to find an outlet) There is tape on the relatively new carpet and a few stains. There is zero art on the walls, but the drapes are nice and the heating and A/C units are new as is mini fridge and microwave. The Internet works great! The Queen (not King) bed is comfortable enough and the flat screen TV is a big one. Overall, a cheaply appointed but adequate room with amenities that somehow match Red Lion’s checklist. I would call it a two-star room with a one-star exterior. The breakfast is packaged and marketed as an express breakfast – it’s very basic and much less adequate than you would get at a typical chain like a Holiday Inn Express or Hampton. I have seen worse – but its prepackaged grab and go stuff. The hotel definitely uses variable pricing and prices are based on area demand not the actual value or quality of the room. If you can get this room for $109 or less, it might be worth staying here if you don't mind the road noise. If the advertised price is more than $109; (which usually is since you are half an hour from Bend) you will not find comparative value. I would rather pay $50 more / night at the Best Western just down the road as it is significantly nicer and quieter. Oh, and they will charge you a $5 fee to pay by credit card, though they don't mention or explain it unless you ask them to clarify this junk fee! Judging how the management has responded to other negative reviews, I’m sure I’ll get slammed for not seeing the same good they do in this property, but I am certain I will never return!
