Our room on a corner had uninterrupted views across open countryside in two directions. The style throughout the bedroom and Hotel was modern and relaxed. The pool is large and was very quiet during our stay (in mid September). The evening meal on the terrasse of the restaurant was excellent. Good location to visit the coastal towns while staying in an utterly relaxing countryside retreat.

We went away for one night to escape Toulon and we were very happy with our choice. The beautiful Venue was clean, chic and easy to find your way around. The wine was very nice. With lunch we had the Origin and then after lunch we did the tasting. We were a bit hesitant to have a meal here as the reviews were not the greatest but the food was delightful, we had the market menu and the only average portion was the risotto, everything else was beautifully presented and delicious, and we have both worked with some of the best chefs in the Yachting industry. The facilities were very quiet as it was the end of season. It would be good to know in future to book in advance for meals at other venues but we managed to get around by ourselves easily.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the property. The staff was super friendly and the property is spacious. The food was outstanding. Having stayed here in the off-season, I felt I got a fantastic deal and for that reason I would stay there again. I do remember seeing the high-season prices, and I don't feel the hotel is as luxurious as it claims to be. For one, it's quite a ways outside of St. Tropez and St. Maxime. There's a super winding road that can literally be very dangerous at night. This road leads from the hotel to La Garde-Freinet to Grimaud and from there to St. Tropez.

We spent a week exploring the region and spent two nights at UP. Although we booked an apartment due to lack of availability on the website of another room type we asked if we would be moved to a room closer to ground level due to accessibility but they didn't seem to want to make any accommodation for us even though the ground level apartments were available on our second night. We were promised a free bottle of wine on arrival which turned out to be a half bottle, several menu items were never available and if you stay here, there's really nowhere else to go - the drive to La Gard Freinet is on a very narrow, winding, unlit road so distances are deceptive. Desserts were not at all good - he worst tiramisu I ever had. They get their bread and cheese from sister property St Roux - perhaps they should get their desserts from there, too. Music plays non-stop at this place which isn't exactly conducive to relaxation, even in wet, cold and windy weather they seated everybody on the terrace under plastic instead of inside the restaurant. As for the apartment itself, it was massive, but the bed wasn't, the lighting was poor and difficult to operate, the shower and sink didn't drain and the extractor didn't work, the soap bottles didn't dispense, there was black mold on the shower tiles, the tiny TV was awkwardly positioned, only one coffee pod per person per day, and on the second day despite arriving for breakfast at 9:00am (service ends at 10:30) there was hardly anything left. The staff in the shop didn't know anything about what was in there, wine tastings were overpriced (and seemingly non-existent), and the property's own wine was more expensive at UP than at area restaurants. I understand it's probably difficult to get staff due to the property's remoteness (I saw some turning up at 5am), but unless and until they address these issues I cannot give the place, as otherwise attractive as it is, more than 3 stars.

The hotel is amazing but when the chef is away don’t eat there. Such a shame for a great hotel. No expense has been spared on the facilities but I don’t understand why not hire a stand-in cook who could at least operate an evening grill. Breakfast were no better; Burnt croissants and out of date GF buns.

From arriving at the hotel we couldn’t have been better looked after by all the wonderful staff. They waited on us hand and foot and made us feel incredibly comfortable and relaxed. We spent an entire day in between the spa, the loungers by the pool, eating and drinking at the restaurant and even a wine tasting experience. We couldn’t have been more relaxed and at home. Fantastic. We’d love to come back in high season when the party gets going by the pool and once the Padel courts are open. You can’t not try their wine - it’s delicious.

An amazing stay where they have so many things right and only one or two small details let it down. Staff were very helpful but occasionally there were not enough of them and they seemed to go “missing”. Almost every time we went into reception, there was no one there, and early morning breakfast was also a bit of a ghost town. However all other aspects were amazing. This place is very lively on the weekend with pool party on Saturday and DJ at dinner had people up dancing. Sunday brunch had a great vibe around the pool too. Would love to see them resolve the staffing issues but will definitely come back regardless as we had a brilliant time.
