We ate at the Bistro del Mar and had a disappointing experience. The service was inattentive and dismissive. People were waiting too long to be seated. Only one server seemed to be allowed to seat people, even though there were others who could. It was really hard to catch any service personnel's eye to get them to tend to us. There were a lot of staff, to that was not the problem. More than once, I was ignored, and no bill was ever brought to the table after I requested it, we waited a lot that evening. I went to the hotel counter to pay for my dinner so we could leave! That was a surprise, as this whole area is absolutely lovely, the people included. Sadly, the food was also overpriced for the quality and the tastes were average at best. A lovely terrace and location but so many other places that deliver something more special, locally authentic and food made with care and flavour.

We truly adore this wonderful location, Hotel and atmosphere and are regulars, for some time. While all was perfectly fine as to Hotel and room (I am not the greatest fan of the pillows, for me a tick too firm), we were a bit unhappy with the staff at the bar. We felt that as non-Catalan-speaking guests (we are foreigners, making an effort to speak Spanish) we were not given the kindness and friendly attention that we were used to. Maybe the crew was already tired (Sunday evening), so nothing really grave, but clearly notable this time. The other thing I really need to stress, is that we had much better dinners in your lovely restaurant in earlier days. To us the menu was not very exciting, plus the solomilio and the fried fish were clearly below Spanish/ Catalan standards. The (Russian) service was friendly and competent, no complaints here. All in all, we left this time with a bit of sweet and sour taste. BUT No worries, w´ll be back anyways....
