The hotel itself does not have any facilities. Basically, the scope of activities is in the room, but the room is quite big, so it is not a big problem. The design is very thoughtful, the room and bathroom even have background music, and welcome refreshments. But if you want to choose a room, you may have to arrive early. When we arrived at 5 or 6 o'clock, there were no options left, only the double room opposite the front desk. But I have to say that it may also be due to the location of the hotel. It is very quiet and equipped with The music of chirping birds and fragrant flowers has a different feeling. The location in a residential area has its pros and cons. The disadvantage is that it is very inconvenient. There are no convenience stores or supermarkets nearby. The nearest supermarket is a 10-minute walk away. It is quite windy when the weather is cold, which is not pleasant. The nearest public transportation station is 10 minutes, and the subway is almost 15 minutes. If you have too much luggage and don't have a car, I don't recommend you to check in. Or you can find a way to store your luggage before coming back.

My wife found this hotel on TikTok and wanted to go, so we stayed here for her birthday! The room and staff were great👍 We also got a massage, which helped relieve the fatigue from walking so much! There were lots of things to see around, so it was wonderful.

The hotel is in a quiet alley, just walking distance to Kyoto Gyoen Garden and Nijo Castle. The hotel staff is very friendly. They sent many emails to help with dinner reservations before checking in. I like it. The front desk will greet you and say hello when you go out and enter the door. The room is huge for Japan, and the bathroom has a huge bathtub. The Japanese breakfast is rich, be sure to book breakfast.

The hotel is a room in a family hotel, with a total of three floors and no elevator. You need to carry your luggage downstairs by yourself. After walking for a day, it is really tiring to climb the stairs when returning to the hotel! Not suitable for families with elderly or children traveling. This is really discouraging! But the service of the hotel is good, the room is relatively spacious, and it is far from the urban area.

We stayed in early July at the Junei Hotel Kyoto Imperial Palace West for two nights in a Deluxe Twin Room. We found the hotel to be in a good location for our literary, as we used taxis or the bus stop several minutes’ walk away on the main road. The bus stop is located at a ***** of restaurants, convenience store and laundromat. This is a small boutique two story hotel just inside an alleyway type street. The exterior entrance and lobby are inviting with the traditional wooden structure and lattice, lit with warm lantern lighting, especially when returning from an excursion. The staff were always very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We found the room to be very spacious, and the décor aesthetically pleasing. The raised tatami mat area with low table, is not only functional for eating and sleeping (there are two beds and I used the roll out mattress from the cupboard on the mats) but this area fused traditional with modern. There is a separate toilet located inside the door. The bathroom contains a shower and a large free standing bath adjacent to a balcony window containing a small bonsai type garden. This was a relaxing place to soak and unwind as the heated recirculating water burbled back into the bath, and light filtered in through the window and garden. The speakers in the bathroom complemented the scene with soothing tranquil music and nature sounds. In fact it was so good, we played this often via the room speakers too. A separate basin area outside the bathroom provides access to the balcony. It’s small, but I enjoyed standing out there when eating my BYO breakfast. We stayed at bigger brand hotels in the other cities, but we enjoyed the Junei Hotel Kyoto Imperial Palace West the most, and we plan to stay here again on our next visit to Japan. Tip: Make sure if giving a taxi driver the hotel name that you state “The Junei Hotel Kyoto Imperial Palace West’ as there is another hotel similarly named “The Junei Hotel Kyoto”, but further out.

We wanted our first trip to Japan to be special and looked for a ryokan in Kyoto. But then we found this place, where the ambience is as close as to a traditional Japenese inn but provides all modern amenities. The staff was very welcoming and recognized us every time we entered. The room was spacious and we felt at home from the first minute. Especially the small but private patio in front of our window provided a beautiful view, even when it was raining. The bathroom was even more sensational. Everyone of us enjoyed the bathtub, including the soothing music. All in all: we couldn't have made a better choice! Thanks to the JUNEI HOTEL team our stay in Kyoto was even more wonderful, that we hoped it would be.

The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful providing us the map of amenities nearby and even gave us a detailed explanation of how to use the different functions and details of our room. I noticed the hotel has no lifts, so going up and down might be a challenge for disabled person. You might want to notify the hotel in advance for a room on the ground floor. Room is really huge for two person. Large sitting area, a huge bathroom and just lots of space. The room comes soft music and a separate music for the bath. Totally zen feeling. The only downside is the location - the nearest train station is a 15mins walk away but at the same time I love the quiet neighborhood away from all the tourist and crowd. I would recommend taking a bus to visit all the popular attractions since Kyoto is not as well connected via the train compared to Osaka or Tokyo. The bus stop is a short 3-4mins walk away. Bus 12 brings you to the downtown Shijo area (20mins ride). The nearest FamilyMart/convenience store is 4mins walk if you wanted to grab snacks or drinks.
