It's my first time trying a room with such design, no bunk-bed capsules but compact rooms seperated by walls and blinds. There is no walkable area inside the unit, just bed and a storage space, but quite comfortable actually. The dormitary is mix-gender and shower is at the basement, a bit inconvenient but works. Really like the common area, equipped with kitchenware so people can cook there!

Staff very friendly. Near kyoto station. Just in front of aeon mall. Clean.
Booked the private room with a bunk bed. It’s enough for 2 people.
Free shampoo, body soap and conditioner other than that not free. I hope you can provide at least tissue box even in the private room.

Very close to the city center and station, quite convenient to walk everywhere without taking a public transportation.
The only issue for me was a very strong smell of urine in the shower room. Not sure if it's because of the water pipe problem or what, but it smells soooo bad.
So, I kind of had a hard time holding my breath while drying my hair in that room. Even though it looks clean and ventilated, I just couldn't.
And plus, me and my sis didn't received an indoor shoes to wear in the building. However, we luckily found someone who left their shoes in the hallway (so we secretly took them lol).
Overall it's okay and I do actually had a great time. Staff is friendly and able to communicate in English.
And If I have my next Kyoto trip again, this hostel would probably will be one of the very first choices I might consider.

The location of the hotel is very good. avanti and AEON are next to Kyoto Station and just across the road. You can see FamilyMart in a few steps. There is also 711 and Yoshinoya across the road. It is very convenient for eating, drinking, entertainment and transportation, and the neighborhood is also lively. Don't worry about walking at night. The location is also quite easy to find. The bed in the girls' dormitory is quite big. The bathroom provides free conditioner, shampoo and shower gel, as well as a place to sit and blow dry your hair and a rack to put clothes. After staying for two days, most of the guests were European and American backpackers. Perhaps because of this, the front desk staff spoke very good English and communicated smoothly. The first time I traveled alone and stayed in a youth hostel was a perfect experience.

This should be the best hostel among all the ones we booked during this trip, and the price is very reasonable. You can store your luggage, there is always someone at the counter, there are many seats in the public area and the kitchen is very free. There is also a coffee machine and a super large refrigerator. The bathing area was very good, with a bathtub for bathing, but the bathroom was very cold and there was no hot water. There was a small basin with hot water in the room.
