Very interesting hotel with a lot of surprise, would definitely come back again to try out all the other rooms!

Very good stay with perfect location. A walk behind the hotel is the bars and restaurants district of Kyoto - you can find a lot of speakeasies and enjoy nights of drinking cocktails and music. It is also just a 5-10 minutes walk to the station which connects to the various attractions in Kyoto - like Fushimi Inari Shrine, and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. We went during New Year’s Day - and although some shops are closed but bars are open and the hotel reception has a list of restaurants which are open as well and is helpful in letting us know. The room ( we picked one of the artist’s room) and it is wonderful. It is big and spacious by Japanese standard with very large bathroom , separate bathtub and toilet and large space. The facade of the room is also a clean, minimalist look with the detailed white and black cups down. We really enjoyed the room and the space. Breakfast is complimentary and there is a good selection of toasts. One of us is vegetarian - and they do have a selection of vegetarian toast ( not much) but they accommodated with vegetarian soup if you ask !

The hotel has a good environment and you can see Kiyomizu Temple from the room. The transportation is not very convenient. You can get there by bus. There is a cafe on the second floor. The shower water is sometimes cold and sometimes hot. The air conditioner in the room blows right around the pillow.

It was clean and the quality of the amenities was satisfactory. It was nice to be able to see the art I liked up close. If possible, it would be good to have a full-length mirror, even if it was just on the back of the closet door.

There was no toothbrush, not as described. Maybe because of the design, I feel that the facilities are not very complete. The breakfast was good and the little brother was very polite. Lighting and other things are more design-oriented than practical. People who like design may feel this, but I still think practicality is more important. The hygiene should be good. You are required to take off your shoes when entering the hotel. To be honest, living in a house is stressful in general, so the designer would probably like it very much.

For a family of three like us, the two queen beds are very comfortable! Coupled with the artistic decoration and friendly store staff, it is still highly recommended. There is a 7-11 downstairs, which is also very convenient.

BnA Alter Museum offers rooms with unique artworks. Our room had a beautiful ceramic tiles table. The only thing was the black floor and walls. The bed was the best we have had in Japan. The hotel is near the canal and the Gionmachi district, so very close to the nightlife. The hotel itself was very quiet.

The staff are friendly and the hotel is well located for seeing Kyoto. However, in this case an art museum and hotel is not a good mix. Our room we called the 'dolls house', a fold out bed ryoken (low) style, a huge bulk head for the bed in the middle of the room meant minimal other space, two tiny chairs to sit on - it just did not work as a hotel room. Glimpses of some other rooms suggested they might be more functional.

Was a amazing stay. Staff was amazing guided us through the room and how to use all the features. Was best hotel we have stayed at yet in Japan. Beds were perfect for foreigners. If ever in Kyoto again will stay in another room for a whole another experience! Thank you!

This hotel is a perfect arty hotel which worked well for our family of 3. Our room was decorated with quirky art pieces and was just the right size for us - bigger than other Japanese rooms we have stayed in. Loved all the art work around the hotel and the bar in the foyer was cool. Great location too!!

About 5 to 10 minute walk from a subway station or shopping area. We had the deluxe suite for 2 nights. Upon entering the room you get an audiovisual exhibition. The room is spacious and has a luxurious feel to it. It has a view and you can lounge in front of it or from the bed. The quality of the bed is good. Amenities okay (coffee and water). There is a special room inside of the room which you can enter from a special way or a somewhat normal way. Inside the room your senses get activated by movement and non movement. Sounds kinda mysterious but i dont want to spoil as much. Staff is kind. Room is clean. Breakfast was a choice menu and it was good.

The room is spacious. Great view of Kamo River! The features/experience in the room is amazing!

This hotel is so cool and perfectly located, walking distance from everything. Above all else the staff was amazing. They helped us in planning our trip while we were still in the States and once we arrived they made everything flow. Highly recommend BnA.
