I would not recommend this dirty awfull hotel to anyone travelling with their family. The reception part looks nice but once you get tonthe rooms you’ll get hit by damp moldy air, the doors to the room barely wok as there is so much moisture in the air they have svollen too much to work properly. Parts of the interior in the room have broke and have not been fixed, instead the lazy maintena ce have just put them on the cabin top. Shown in pictures. The toilett looks awfull, and I don’t mran the decor, the staff cleaning the rooms shoud look for sometjing else to do as there is dust from the 1970s in the airflow, the shower cabin doors are so dirty you can barely see through them. The balcony door is hanging and you can barely get it closed. The lovks have eaten awy almost all of the doorframe because of this. The boarding on the balcony makes you wonder if you will find yourself a floor lower if you step out on it. If you’re not used to sleep in dirt look for another place to sleep, this place gives me the creeps and who knows what other illnesses you’ll pickup here. I can manage old and used, but dirty and lazy maintenance is another story. Stay away and find another place to spend the night.

This hotel aims at mediocrity and hits it squarely. Their guiding line is that TV quote “Not great, not terrible”. The rooms show their age but are clean and mostly in working order. Some have individual AC and useful features like mobile device screen mirroring on TV, but ours wasn’t working.

Hotel is next to the Ähtäri Zoo. Free parking. They have bowling, piljard, restaurant, club in the same building. Reception staff was okay. Since half of the hotel is inside a rock, hallway looked nice. We had a standard twin room on the 1st floor. Kind of expencive for this experience. Great lake view from the balcony. Room was an outdated retro room - a piece of Finnish history. Although TV (with chromecast) was new, everything else needs fixing or updating. No minibar/fridge. Bad pillow. In bathroom there was no shampoo! Only a foam from dispenser, which suits only for body wash. On the balcony there were screw heads out - use shoes! Breakfast was average. Enough for a quick meal. Overall experience 2/5

Had a great stay with family, the hotel building itself was old and in need of a reno but it was architecturally fascinating and clean. Would love to see it updated and full of guests. Service was friendly and genuine. Spa was nice, left us wondering how great it would be with an outdoor sauna or access to the natural water.

Worst hotel i have ever visited. We have visited this place for about ten years every summer. Why? Because of the Zoo that is located next to the hotel. That is the only thing that keeps this hotel alive. Without kids i would never stay in this hotel. Every year the hotel gets worse and worse. It is and has been very outdated for a long time. No air conditioning, only few tv channels, the cleaning is bad. I mean very bad. There was so much dust under the beds that it must have not been cleaned for months. (Same thing last year). The silicone seams at the toilet were all looking like something was growing on them and the toilet door has seen some moisture for a long time. The nature around the hotel is beautiful. But there is no reason to stay in this place.

This hotel should have been renovated some 10 years ago at least. Bed has holes in it, shower is dirty and moldy, and some spider webs ... we just skipped it..., corridors and room smell ... and not in a nice way.... overall so bad in a way I've never seen anywhere else in Finland so far. Everything seems old and broken, Way too pricey for the quality. I wish I read the reviews before I got here... never again!!!

Hotel had really bad air and no air conditioning. Old hotel which seems to be falling apart. Balcony and the outside looks that it might break anytime. Room we got first smelled like mold and the air quality was really bad. After complaining we got a room from the first floor which did not smell as bad.

This hotel is a retro style, but not in a positive way. Everything is from the 1976…even the furniture of the room, the bathroom tiles and the wall-to-wall carpet. No wifi in the rooms 😂 But there is great potential, though the renovation costs a fortune… The gem is the architucture that connects the nature and the building. But even concrete needs maintenance…

This pretty big place is next door to the animal park, at lakeside. It has been built to a granite hillside, other accommodation options including camping and cottages. Rooms all have verandas and lakeviews, the staff are friendly. School holidays may be different, after them it is pretty peaceful
