We originally planned to stay at Blue Moon Resort for three nights, but we enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay for an extra night when our onward travel plans changed. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by warm, friendly, and hardworking staff who made us feel welcome. Check-in was simple, and we were given a tour of the hotel before being shown to our room, which was a nice touch. We booked a private pool room, which was clean, spacious, and very quiet—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The pool area was surrounded by several large palm trees, adding to the tropical atmosphere. It was great floating in the pool, watching the palm trees above gently sway in the wind. The room had all the facilities we needed, including a minibar, Netflix on the TV, and an Alexa station, making it feel very modern and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job, with the room cleaned daily to a high standard. There were only two minor drawbacks: 1. The wardrobe only had four hangers, which wasn’t enough for both of us. 2. The shower temperature fluctuated frequently, switching between very hot and cold every 30 seconds or so. The food at the hotel was excellent. The restaurant, which overlooks the main swimming pool and the ocean, provided a great dining setting. One evening, there was a meat and seafood BBQ buffet with a live band and singer. Breakfast was also really good. It was à la carte, and I enjoyed the vegetarian option, which included fresh avocado, stir-fried vegetables, and fresh pineapple juice. Pastries and a fruit platter were also provided as standard. The hotel grounds are expansive, well-maintained, and incredibly peaceful. With only a few guests around, it never felt crowded, making it the perfect place to unwind. One of our favourite spots was the jetty, where we spent time relaxing on the loungers and swimming in the sea. The water was warm, shallow, and calm, ideal for a refreshing swim. We also took short walks along the mostly rocky beach, where we visited a Maasai community shop on the beach and purchased some souvenirs. A few other things to note: Payments: When checking out, the hotel had issues with their card machine, and after multiple attempts, they eventually sent me a payment link to settle the bill online. It’s best to bring enough cash (in USD) to avoid any issues. Massage: My wife had a full-body massage, which was reasonably priced and very relaxing. Hotel pets: The resort has dogs and cats wandering around, all of which were friendly and tame. However, there was also a monkey on a lead. He seemed eager to explore but was confined, which didn’t feel right.
