The crappiest hotel I've ever stayed in. A large B&B, but it has the nerve to call itself a resort. It opened my eyes to the fact that managers were messy, talked nonsense, and did not solve problems but only shirk responsibility. We checked in at 8 o'clock in the evening and were told that the room was still being cleaned, but they also said that the check-out time was 10:30 in the morning. Regardless of whether this is reasonable or not, what were the staff doing during the intervening nine and a half hours? I checked in at eight o'clock and entered the room at ten o'clock. There was a strong smell of air freshener. I didn't understand it, but I was shocked. Security is close to zero, and villagers outside the hotel can come and go at will. At 5:30 in the morning, someone tried to break in. The sound of the door lock being pushed and pulled hurriedly woke us up. We were yelled at many times before letting the person who tried to break in leave. So we immediately called the front desk to no avail. Then he yelled at the window for security personnel, to no avail. I contacted the platform and asked platform personnel to help contact the hotel, but the platform personnel said they could not be reached. I called the front desk again at 6 a.m. to no avail. So we stayed in the room from 5:30 to 8:30, not daring to sleep or go out. We didn't go out until it was completely light. The meal is a pile of rubbish, no judgment. Then at noon, the hotel management came, very aggressive, and without listening to what we said, they directly told us that the security here was tight, so I told you this morning. The front desk told me that there are only two security personnel in total, and one of them is the gatekeeper. She said there were six of them patrolling several different areas. I said I didn’t see anyone along the way, so please take me to where they are. She said the security personnel might have gone to have lunch, go to the toilet, or buy something in a store. It was normal not to see them. The management said it was a dog scratching the door. I said my nails scratched your wooden door and there were obvious marks. If the dog scratched it, why was there no mark at all? And will the dog behave like sliding the door lock to break in? She said it was ok because their dogs are smart and may or may not have imprints. I said I wanted to see the surveillance video, and she said the one we had was broken. But actually we don’t even have cameras there. How disgusting.

So I’d finished a 4 week tenting safari ( it did end at the northern beaches) but I decided to stay longer and while I did pay a few extra $$$ it was the perfect end to my holiday. I booked a pool room and was in pool room 2. And it was absolutely perfect. The room had awesome aircon, Netflix and Alexa, robes & slippers, daily water & tea, coffee. There were a few extra things in the room for purchase if wanted. The pool was a winner ( I never used the main pool) The overall grounds had plenty of spots to chill and the whole time I was there which was 3 nights I think I saw a maximum 12 people ( very quiet ) The pontoon was a nice place to also relax and you can have drinks out there while swimming in the pool at the end. It is a distance from anywhere else so expect that unless you pay for transportation you won’t be leaving. I paid for an optional snorkeling tour via the reception ( paid at the end when I left ) it was ok - I got a private tour by myself other than that I just relaxed. There are a few other tours that they offer but I just wanted to stay put really enjoy doing nothing. I did go for a walk along the beach but it was very rocky unlike the northern beaches but the pontoon you could take the stairs down into the water and swim Breakfast included ( pick from the menu and order what you want- it was nice- I ordered eggs, fruit & Nutella pancakes ) - while I didn’t have lunch - as breakfast was sufficient I did pay for dinner which was somewhat normal things available but the pasta dish wasn’t the best but the burger was fine. This hotel was everything that I was expecting. My own pool ( that I used a lot….) just relaxing. I felt safe and yes I was solo in this nice romantic pool room. Not over crowded and a great way to end my holiday. The resort can organise transfers but I had already organised this a couple days earlier with my tour company a private transfer which only cost $40 usd each way on the way back to stone town I got my driver to stop at Jozani Forest to see the red Columbus monkeys. Now to save a couple $$ that might be a good option as the resort does offer a similar tour I just paid my driver $10 extra to make the stop rather than $95 with the resort I would stay again

If you are following the property on social media, you would expect the ultimate paradise and excellent service. While the property itself is really beautiful, especially the over-the-water pier with sun bed bungalows, the rest is average and plain. Rooms: I stayed in a regular room: spacious but not special. No desk, no mosquito net as indicated on the website. There is no “garden” unless you count the properties garden. The room comes with a nice spacious patio, but own no garden. Food: average, no water provided unless purchased. Breakfast is a-la-cart, no fresh fruit offered, coffee is terrible. Both surprising as the Tanzanian coffee is excellent and the property is located in fresh fruit paradise. (All meals were cold between kitchen and table.) Service: The lack of service is a no-go for a supposedly 4-star property and the price requested. Staff doesn’t check-in in your potential needs and you have to go find a person for every item you would like to order. Other: If you settle your bill with credit card, an automatic surcharge of 5% is added. Who carries so much cash with no ATM at the property available? I understand for settlements less than $100 but everything else is extreme. Also note that if you want to book an excursion, you will pay the driver in cash not the hotel. Had I known, I wouldn’t have gone. Since the property does not have an ATM on side, it should be communicated beforehand to plan ahead. Per their own claim on social media, this property is supposedly a 5-star hotel but in reality, it is rated 4-Stars on booking websites - which (personal opinion) is still a stretch. The property can easily be 4-star worthy if they improve food and attentiveness of the staff. Won’t recommend until serious improvements are made.

This little pearl outside the crowded world is really a paradise to come to rest. The staff is superfriendly, the food is delicious, the interior is really cool and Ibiza-style and the resort is really big but they do not allow many guests so you really have a lot of space at the pool/beachside. They have a petty with which you can walk above the sea and sunbathe in the middle of the sea. Really cool! We really loved the place!

Overall, very satisfied with our stay at the Blue Moon Resort. We stayed for 9 nights in the suite with a private pool on a full board basis. On the first day, we arrived at 8:00 am. It was indeed early, but we had to wait until 3:00 pm to be given our room. We were exhausted from a 20-hour trip, and it was frustrating that we couldn't get a room to rest. A hotel should be able to accommodate guests by noon, which is the norm. The website indicated a check-in time of 2:00 pm, but we had to wait an extra hour. For a supposedly luxurious room, it felt a bit outdated. The wardrobe was very small, with doors that didn't close properly (allowing insects to get inside) and not practical for storing long dresses that get wrinkled. The hotel really needs to implement a ventilation system; sometimes, there's an unpleasant smell in the room and the bathroom. Therefore, showering with salty water is really unpleasant. A full-length mirror and more light in the bedroom would also be nice to have... Besides these issues, the mattress is comfortable despite numerous comments suggesting it was a bit firm. The positives of the hotel: it's family-oriented and extremely peaceful. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and a private beach with fewer people. The restaurant is à la carte. The dishes are delicious, fresh, high-quality, and presented very meticulously, something rarely seen in a full board hotel. Hats off to the chefs! The only downside of the restaurant is the time. On average, it takes 1.5 to 2 hours sometimes to have a meal because of the time taken for ordering and preparing the dishes. It's not a big deal in the evening, but it's inconvenient at noon when one wants to make the most of their time. The music is perfect, classy, and not a discotheque atmosphere! (If that's what you're looking for, you should consider Nungwi's hotels). The hotel's cleanliness is impeccable. The staff is very attentive and truly cares about your comfort. We want to thank the waiters for their kindness and responsiveness, with a special thanks to Swahiba! We will probably come back.

😀 I contacted the hotel to inform them of my 0400 arrival. They welcomed myself and my daughter with a warm welcome. The bedroom was beautiful with a lovely large bed. The, which was decorated with red petals. We didn’t want to mess up the petals🤓🤓. mattress was excellent qualitygood . The bathroom was a lovely size. I enjoyed my showers, but had to get use to the very salty water, which made my skin itchy at times. I have very sensitive skin ( No fault of the hotel 🤓). Bathroom toiletries smelt lovely. The staff are all amazing. Hamadi, Ayubu, Dayana and Alan 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. The owner was very attentive and would ask the guests how they are. The restaurant area and lounge area are large and clean. The pool area in front of the restaurant is large and clean. My favourite area of the hotels is the jetty area. There is a beautiful pool down in that area, where myself and my daughter requested a floating breakfast. It was paradise. The floating breakfast was an additional USD$30. I strongly recommend it. Hamadi and Alan brought the floating breakfast singing to us. It was amazing. My daughter enjoyed the jet ski. She was in her element. The restaurant food was lovely and cooked to perfection. Well done to the 🧑🏾‍🍳. I love that the hotel is calm, private and secluded. Away from the hustle, bustle and noise. If you want a peaceful and relaxing stay Blue moon resort is the one for you! Thank you Blue moon for a wonderful stay! I would strongly recommend this hotel 💯%. The hotel arranged a phone with the pharmacist and they delivered my daughter’s tablet to us. 😡 The road leading to the hotel needs attention. It’s very very bumpy and uncomfortable. The bedroom/bathroom needs a brighter light. Too dim. I’m a vegetarian and have a fish/seafood allergy and felt limited to the food choices in the evenings. I had vegetarian curry or vegetarian pasta. I didn’t like the vegetarian burger.
