Stayed at Wings, but check-in, meals, hot springs, etc. were basically all done in the main building. Although the meals were not very exquisite, they were buffet style. If you like them, just eat more. The main building is very big. The outdoor large bath on B1 is super beautiful! If you need a bus back to Kushiro, you don't have to go to the bus terminal in the morning if you stay here. The bus will pick you up in advance. You can find a better seat with your luggage. If there are a lot of people, it will be really awkward to stand at the back.

The hotel is in a great location, and the sea view rooms have a view of the sea. The rooftop cafe has a great view of the sunset. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the Nusamai Bridge and the harbor. It is about a 10-minute walk, and there are several restaurants nearby to choose from, making it convenient to find food. I booked a month in advance and noted that I wanted a room on the third floor or above, but they still arranged a room on the third floor. I asked why! Answer: It was fully booked for several months, so I was skeptical! The service is really good. They even arranged a car to take me to the station this morning. The breakfast and dinner are also very nice! The room has a private hot spring bath, as well as a stereo and CD. The overall feeling is quite good! There is a coffee machine next to the smoking room downstairs. I take a few puffs of coffee every day after brewing it, which is great!

The dormy inn is a bit small and older than the other dormy inns i have stayed before. However, we were surprised to learn that this dormy inn offers iced coffee, oolong teas, and pops during 3-9pm, where normal dormy inns would just offer regular hot coffee and americanos. We were so lucky to be able to watch and experience the sunset on the top floor resting area (where the onsen is also location on). The sunset was stunning (tho the ANA Crowne Plaza blocked some of the view) and it was one of the most beautiful sunset i've ever experienced.

Shin-Akan is obviously an old hotel. The buffet is OK. The highlight is that there is a large public outdoor swimming pool upstairs. It is mixed for men and women. You need swimsuits. The hotel has prepared them. You can wear theirs. There are swimsuits in the bathroom, or you can wear your own. The open-air hot spring is quite good. You basically take a bath in the hotel's hot spring. The bathroom is very small. In winter, Lake Akan is completely frozen. Maybe because of the weather, you can hardly see any scenery. It is more fun to play snowmobiles and snow sleds. The hotel has a very big problem, because there is a self-service grill for dinner, and many people will grill meat. The restaurant is completely open on the first floor, making the whole building full of the smell of barbecue, which is very bad.

I also paid to upgrade to a sea view room (the front desk guy's English was so poor that he said the 14th floor was the 24th floor). I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, but I had one nauseating thing during breakfast. I was about to eat some salad, but there was a long hair in it 🤮 ... It's about 15 minutes away from the JR station. It's nice on the pier. If you have a sea view room, the sunset is nice when the weather is good.

It was nice to have a full-sized bathroom! It was very nice to have separate washer & dryer units instead of the typical combo units we've encountered!! It was super nice that the woman at the front desk spoke enough English that she was able to explain our reservation & parking!!! The breakfast was a ”Comfort Suites” style breakfast but had a decent combo of Japanese & Western choices. The stacked parking for our car was well coordinated. This was a ”day of” reservation for us but in a couple ways ”beats” the last Airbnb we stayed at in Tokyo.

This is an old hotel that opened in 1976. The overall facilities have the feeling of that era. Although it is old, it is still relatively clean and hygienic. Considering that labor costs in Japan are relatively high, it is acceptable not to provide daily hotel cleaning for multiple-day stays. Those who mind this can avoid this hotel. The breakfast environment is very good. On the 10th floor of the hotel, there is a very good view overlooking Kushiro, which feels like a dream back to the Showa era. The space of the triple room is relatively large because it is set up in the corner of the building. I think this is good.
