"'눈을 보자'는 목표로 유바리라는 쉽지 않은 목적지를 고른 탓에 숙소에 도착하기까지 많은 일들이 있었습니다. 신유바리에서 내리는 타이밍을 놓쳐버려 시무캇푸에 불시착했지만, 시무캇푸 역장님과 숙박 사장님이 도와주신 덕에 유바리에 무사히 도착할 수 있었습니다! 그리고 유바리까지 갈 수 없었던 상황이되자 비어있는 다른 숙박집에 무료로 묵게 해주셨습니다. 다음날 원래 예약했던 숙소까지 대표님 차로 직접 태워주셨어요. 대표님의 고객서비스에 엄청난 감동... 유바리는 기대했던대로 여기저기 눈으로 뒤덮혀, 아주 춥고 깨끗한 마을이었습니다. 마을 추운 탓에 숙소도 추웠지만, 기억에 남는 여행지였습니다. 10년은 곱씹어 볼 수 있는 추억을 만들어 떠날 수 있었어요. 너무 추운 겨울이라 그런지 난로를 틀자 노린재로 보이는 벌레가 한두마리 들어오긴 했고, 숙소 역시 아주 따뜻한 건 아니었지만 온수 등의 이용에는 큰 불편이 없었습니다. 그리고 요리를 할 수 있었는데, 너무 좋은 시간이었습니다. 커피 등도 꼭 챙겨서 숙소에서 여유로운 겨울을 즐기시길 바랍니다. 겨울이라면 꼭 마을을 걸어서 산책해보세요. 눈을 좋아한다면 관광객에 흐트러지지 않은 겨울의 일본 시골이 가진 깨끗한 적막함과 여유로움을 즐기실 수 있을 겁니다. 저희는 호기롭게 대중교통을 이용했습니다만, 가급적이면 자가용 혹은 렌트카를 빌려서 방문하는 것을 추천합니다. 버스 시간 맞추는 게 생각보다 힘듭니다. 여행 전에 꼼꼼히 계획하더라도 여기치 못한 일들이 일어나는 게 시골 여행이니까요. (혹시라도 훗카이도가 처음이라면 방수가 되는 등산화 혹은 방한화를 반드시 마련해서 오시길 바랍니다. 적어도 고무장화는 필요한데, 고무장화를 신으면 발이 엄청 시릴거에요. 훗카이도는 영하 10도까지 내려가는 경우가 절대 적지 않습니다.)"
