My family and I were booked at this hotel by our tour guide with the intent of staying three nights. We left after one night and found different accommodations. Upon entering the hotel you must first go through a metal detector and your bags through an x-ray. The room we got was a nice size, but the carpet was dirty, the the tub was moldy, and the in-room safe initially did not work. I have stayed in many hotels with many safes, but I had never seen one like this where you have to push a reset button that is not clearly labeled. I missed the button and locked the safe, while empty and couldn't get it back open, setting off the alarm. I contacted the desk and sent my family to the restaurant to get some dinner as they were hungry. Fifteen minutes later no-one arrived. I called again and was told someone was on their way. An hour had passed and my wife informed me that the food she ordered was being delivered, so I gave up and went to dinner. I stopped at the front desk to ask about the safe and they told me that someone was coming soon. The maintenance staff arrived and tried to open it unsuccessfully. He informed me he needed to go get a tool to open it and returned 10 minutes later to open it. The food at the restaurant was ok, the beds were comfortable, but between the shower, the extra security measures, the noise from the club at night, and the moldy bath we had had enough.

My room could do with a mini fridge. The hotel is undergoing renovation without closing and so there was a strong smell of fresh paint in the room and hallway which could be irritating to the lungs. Hope the bedding furniture will also be updated with the renovation.

If you read my previous reviews on the Lancaster Kumasi City (Previous Golden Tulip) you will ee I hated this place and nothing ever was right! May I be the first to swallow my words. This place has come full circle and is now a pleasure to stay at. I stayed in the Annex and these rooms is redone. The colour scream is welcoming and if there was space I would have packed the bed in my bag. The restaurant and lounge had a facelift - it is now nice and open and you feel welcome. From the amount of guests coming for dinner you can see this is now the place to be. Negatives? Small problem is that the food is still mostly for the West African taste with dishes like Chicken Hearts and Light Goat Soup. Not always the taste of Foreign Visitors. Perhaps cater for the Foreign guest but smaller dishes?

The hotel is wonderful. It is clean and the rooms are spacious. There is WiFi in the rooms. The staff was friendly. There were lots of Americans staying at this hotel who were also on tours. I would definitely stay here again. The buffet was delicious. I stayed at this location as well as the one in Accra as part of a tour. Both were really nice and had great food, but the Kumasi location was better.

Just returned from a short business trip and having read a number of negative reviews before we arrived it was a concern but I can honestly say the staff were wonderful and could not be more helpful. The standard of accommodation was as you would expect from a UK 3 or 4 star hotel and the breakfast choice was huge. The bedrooms all had balconies and a pity the pool was being renovated but I’m sure it will be perfect when complete. The dining room and bar areas were perfectly clean and serviced with a smile. If we return to Kumasi I will not hesitate on booking again

Not worth the money. I understand supply and demand. Was charged $400 US per night for an apartment. On check in was told we had received an upgrade so I have attached the pictures for this so-called upgrade room. Wife laughed and said how much did you pay :-( Spoke to manager and said I would love to see the original room if they really thought this was an upgrade, Tiles misaligned, see the pic of iron and ironing board. Hotel was comfortable, staff nice but having travelled all over Europe, North America, Asia this hotel is definitely not worth the money. Of the three hotels we stayed in Ghana Labadi Beach, Accra, Royal Regent, Elmina they were great value for money. Hence, check you are not being ripped off before you book and rate are sub $200.

I went there for dinner. The setting is very nice. The staff is very friendly and professionel. The menue is rather sparse and the food is overpriced. Quality was good though. I would have expected a bit more from one of the top hotels on kumasi.

Food took Soo long to arrive... Even getting a bottle of club to me so long... Instead of the food to come all at once they came separately with the longest time interval! Seats are also uncomfortable

Musty rooms, messy dining room, dirty restaurant and poor housekeeping, I could go on! Three pillows for two people to share. Asked for an extra pillow and it took two calls and one hour to arrive. Dining room was filthy and strewn with messy tables. Buffet room smelt bad and food was cold. I am very disappointed.

I really can only describe my relationship with the Lancaster Kumasi City (Golden Tulip Kumasi) as a Love/Hate relationship. I have coming back here now for around 12 years. The hotel recently was taken over by the Lancaster Group and I heard that there is any changes and modifications made - I was filled with excitement. The check in was still the same (they are still buys with modifications to the reception area) and I went to my room with anticipation. Getting our of the elevator I was still greeted with with the same run down carpets. The only change in the room I could see is that the carpet was replaced with wooden floors. The lamp shade was still worn and the curtains still could not close properly. The bathroom still looked the same. Going down to dinner, I was greeted with the same food as I saw during the last 10 years. Salads look appetizing and fresh, BIG bread selection but your main courses are consisting of mostly West African dishes. Deserts look good but has no taste. On day two of my stay I decided to order from the Room Service Menu. Pizza. About 30 minutes after placing my order I was contacted to say - no Pizza available. As my stay is for a whole week, the food experience is really one of contrasts. One morning there is juice, next morning there is no juice. Will I be back? YES. I want to see this hotel succeed. I want to see it being refurbished to its old International Glory! Come on Lancaster Kumasi - YOU CAN DO IT!

We used the swimming pool. When it was still Golden Tulip you could buy WiFi. But since it is Lancaster it is not possible anymore. I think it would be a great service if they would offer it for free but at least it should be possible to buy it.

I am an old customer of Golden Tulip Hotel, now it changed the name and became Lancester. First from web site the given telephone number is not working. I sent my customer to hotel to get correct telephone number. Then they made different reservations for more than 1 room and for different days which i never mentioned despite i needed 1 single room. Until i get reservation confirmation i called them more than 20 times and talked with different people. Always pushed to make them work. Now 3 hours passed still they could not solve broken safety box problem, they changed but non of them working. Because of this issue i kept my customer down stairs long time. Reception Mr Richard is helpful but a lady is like she does not wanna talk on the phone. Indeed i felt helpless here and will never stay again.

OK hotel for business and pleasure but level of music outside on Saturday morning is just unbearable, unnecessary and very inconsiderate for most people using the hotel. I have stayed at this hotel when visiting Kumasi for more than two decades. On Saturday i sat by the pool to catch up on emails before leaving, but struggle to do anything or talk to colleagues as the music is so loud. Other people sat outside are also complaining, no one cares. Dissapointing
