It is about a 15 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle and a 30 minute walk to Kumamoto Station.

A typical local travelers hotel tucked right next to the Kamitoricho shopping street where food options and convenience are abundant. The nearest tram stop is about 300m from the hotel, and the Shinkansen station is about 20mins by tram from the hotel. All major tourist attractions are also within the vicinity. The hotel has aged over the years but has been very well kept. Rooms are BIG for japanese standards, clean, toilets look very new, and basic amenities like body wash, towels and kettle is provided. Coffee is provided but you would have to walk to the reception to grab a cup. Room is sufficiently insulated and a central heater will keep you warm during winter. However the partition between the rooms are thin so noise from the next room can be audible - we had a occupant snore so loudly that it was faintly audible in the room. It is also worth noting that the footsteps and slamming doors from the corridor may also be heard via the front door. Lastly, although some of the staff may not speak English well, they are very helpful and accommodative - just whip out your google translate and have a conversation with them - they will gladly oblige.

We took Highway Bus (2.5hr) from Fukuoka Airport to Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Koko Hotel is directly connected to the bus terminal. From the lobby, we get a clear view of Kumamoto Castle. Our Superior Twin Room is very spacious and comfortable. We paid Y32,310 for 2 nights. It is 10 mins walk to the Castle, and 10 mins taxi ride to Kumamoto Station. Amu Plaza next to Kumamoto Station has plenty of eateries. Sakuramachi has Family Mart, restaurants and shops.

The hotel is located in the cross alley of Shinshi Street, with the famous Shoretsu Tei on the back. It only takes 5 minutes to walk to Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Shinshi Street is just downstairs, and it only takes 3 minutes to walk to the lower street. The location is very convenient. Up to 11am minimum. So, you better ask things when it's opened
