Excellent location in the city centre, a few minutes from shopping, convenience stores, and the Sakuramachi Main bus terminal. Though it is no frills 3-star limited service hotel, location is the best and the price is reasonable. No cleaning in my room plan but acceptable. Will stay again.
If I visit Kumamoto again in the future, I will definitely stay in Ark Hotel. It offers easy access to Kumamoto Castle and Sakura Machi.
I also enjoyed the lounge service of the hotel. The lounge is on the 10th floor of the hotel. I could see the Keeps of the castle. Wonderful view!! The lounge is open to the guest from 3 pm to 11 pm. Guests could enjoy free coffee and drinks. Good place to relax.
Good location with shopping arcade right next to it! Lots of good shops like Mister Donut, Gindaco. Walking distance to most attractions like Kumamoto Castle and famous ramen. Great variety of self-pick up amenities (toothbrush, cleanser, body sponge, comb, tea, coffee etc.) and special request amenities like hair curler, latex pillow, power bank, shoe dryer and many more! Easy digital self-check-in with staff assistance. Good breakfast variety and clean environment. Luggage storage with front desk is also easy! Parking guidance brochure available. Free cheese grain snack upon check-in. Highly recommend for anyone to stay here!

Hotel is 5 tram stops away from Kumamoto station, red line. Shopping street is conveniently located, just a few minutes walk away, with many stores and eateries..There was a big Christmas market just in front of the shopping street.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and have all amenities needed. They have coin operated washer cum dryer on 3rd floor, 600 yen.
Nice hotel for a short stay.
Very central location at the shopping mall but it is difficult to enter the hotel as mentioned by other reviews. Great amenities provided at the hotel lobby- hair oil and bath salts! Room was clean and spacious. Overall a great experience.
A lovely hotel to stay in close to Kumamoto Castle. The rooms are nice and clean with friendly staff who are very helpful.
Bath areas on the 12th floor are also quite nice and have a range of offerings inside.
Breakfast was included with the price we paid, however, all the food was a little tasteless, if paying for breakfast, it is easy to go downstairs and get something but I’d probably go somewhere else if paying.
Location was good, it is very near a shopping district filled with restaurants. Room was clean.
Hotel room was clean and I like that they even offer instant soup (free for hotel guests) beside the reception.
Minus some points on service as a receptionist gave my mum attitude when asked on how to operate the laundry machine.
The location is good with lots of eateries around. The room for 3 adults is spacious and all needed is provided. Parking is 1,200 yen and no multiple entries during your stay. toilet bowl is a little dated with stains but still functioning well. Staff is patient even though English not fluent.
Very good location. The room is spacious and well designed for the price. It has a nice window view of the shopping mall across. Highlight of my stay was the public bath, they have both indoor and outdoor baths, which were clean and thoughtfully designed. Definitely a place I would come back for!
Great location, close to main bus terminal snd shopping district. Friendly staffs and was anle to offer luggage storage pre/post check in/out. Onsite hot springs was so nice and relaxing, with complimentary yogurt drinks and ice cream after the bath. Room was clean and quite spacious. Definitely will stay again

Outstanding
GGuest UserIt is very convenient to have everything.
GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is more remote than expected, and requires a short walk up a slope, but it is still within an acceptable range. There are buses outside the hotel, but none of them pass by the destination we want to go, so we choose to walk there.
The hotel is next to Kumamoto Castle. When booking, I chose the direction of Kumamoto Castle and I was not disappointed. The actual Kumamoto Castle is larger than in the photo, so it is worth walking up the slope.
The decoration of the hotel is a bit old-fashioned, and the space in various aspects is also very large, such as the rooms and the hotel lobby, etc., the sense of space is very sufficient. There seems to be a cafe downstairs (not sure about this because I only stayed one night and didn’t explore the surrounding area).
When checking in, the staff gave us some sweets as a gift. Although they were just snacks from a regular souvenir shop, they were very heartwarming.
In addition to Kumamoto Castle, there are also Kato Shrine, Inari Shrine, etc. next to the hotel. At the bottom of the mountain, there is the Kumamoto City Museum of Contemporary Art and Shimodori Shopping Street, so it is also very convenient.
GGuest UserI've stayed here once before, and it's very easy to find near the station, so I booked again. There was only one room available, so I booked a smoking room. Even though I don't like the smell of cigarettes, there was no cigarette smell from the room and it was very comfortable. I'd definitely like to stay here again when I come to Kumamoto. Thank you for your help.
CChakuI love this place! Although the location is bit far away from the downtown of Kumamoto, the equipment and service is very good~ it was a cozy stay for me.
Arigatou (ありがとう)!
쭈쭈쭈나The room was clean and the staff were very friendly! It was very good to give a service drink and have a lot of bars such as train stations and bus stops nearby! Personally, I was disappointed that there were many walls and it was thin, so I could hear all the sounds of the next room, and in the morning I was awakened by the alarm sound of the next room. ㅠㅠ
But it was cheap, so it was a night that wasn't bad ~
LLinda HuangThe use of space is great. Although it is small, it has all the necessary features. It has a big bed and is comfortable to sleep on. You can put your suitcase under the bed. It is not far from the bus stop and there are many restaurants nearby.
Breakfast is provided free of charge. Although there are not many options, it is pretty good.
The living environment is hygienic and tidy.
