I stayed at this hotel and had no problems the first night; it was beautiful. However, on the second night, the AC started leaking while I was sleeping, soaking all my clothes and even damaging my passport. I reported the issue to the reception desk, and while they sent someone to fix it, my belongings were already ruined.
The manager I spoke to was incredibly rude. She blamed me for putting my bag under the AC, as if it’s normal for an AC to leak. Instead of taking responsibility for the poorly maintained room, she escalated the situation unnecessarily. A simple apology could have resolved everything, but instead, it involved the police.
They refused to compensate for the damage, and I had to use a dryer for my wet passport. The manager even had the audacity to say she couldn’t replace my passport, which I never asked for. I was in a stressful situation without my passport, and getting a new one during Chinese New Year would be a nightmare.
When she finally spoke to her boss, they agreed to give us a refund, but the manager insisted we leave immediately. I wasted so much time in the lobby while they were fixing the AC instead of taking care of my things. It was chaotic, and all we wanted was to dry our clothes and get ready to leave.
On a brighter note, we had great service at the Ritz Carlton, which kinda made us feel better after that awful experience. Also, the hotel security guy was very kind and helped us during the situation. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel due to their lack of accountability and poor customer service.
