Great hotel but still can't digest on the followings:
- check-in time is set at 4pm
- small standard room is priced at RM800++ per night
- expensive buffest breakfast; RM85 per pax
Pros:
Fast check-in & check-out.
Friendly front-desk.
Clean but cramped room (34m2).
Comfy bed and pillows.
Got a working air conditions.
Quality argan oil based toiletries.
Nice view from balcony overlooking Teluk Chempedak beach.
Beautifully maintained and clean beach.
Free but uncovered parking.
Good free wifi strength.
Breakfast buffet: a lot of varieties & delicious but quite expensive; RM85 per pax.
Walking distance to various f&b establishments like Starbucks, KFC, McDonald etc.
Cons:
Check-in time is 4pm & check-out time is 12pm; which is not fair to guests.
Quite far from city centre.
Refrigerator not cold.
Faulty hair drayer.
Only one mirror is provided; inside the bathroom.
Very limited no of tv channels.
Small pools.
Uncovered and limited parking within hotel compound.

About 3.5 hours journey from KL by car. The location is good, it is situated at teluk cempedak. Outside of hotel has many eateries and shops. If your birthday, they will give you a cake but no complimentary upgrade. The beach side is well maintained, clean and nice view. The room is well maintained and clean. Well done to housekeeping. The food and service at Italian bistro is good too.

I booked the Ocean View King Room and the view was absolutely stunning! 10/10 for the scenery and clean beach! However, the hotel could really use some maintenance. The toilet sink was cracked, and the bathroom sliding door was broken, we couldn’t even close it, so we just left it open throughout the stay.
Overall, while the view was truly amazing, the condition of the room didn’t match the price point. Definitely not worth the cost unless you’re only here for the view.

Stayed: June 2025 — Family with infant
We loved the setting of the Hyatt Regency Kuantan: the beach-front location is hard to beat and the refurbished room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
However, there are a few things the hotel could fine-tune:
• Bathroom – Water pressure at the shower head was consistently low, which took the shine off an otherwise great room.
• Breakfast – Wide variety and tasty options, but the semi-open dining area felt stifling even at 8 a.m. A bit more airflow (fans or better ventilation) would make the “open concept” much more enjoyable.
• Family amenities & service – We requested baby essentials a week before arrival and again at check-in. Only a baby-cot eventually appeared after requested twice at the front desk; there was no baby bathtub or bottle sterilizer. Competing properties regularly provide these basics, so expectations are higher for a Hyatt. Staff were polite but the follow-through just wasn’t there. Calling front desk few times but nobody answering the calls though.
Bottom line: Excellent location and comfortable rooms, but the weak shower pressure, hot breakfast area, and gaps in family-friendly service keep the experience from matching other leading hotel groups. Addressing those details would make this property an easy five-star choice.

Insufficient car park slots in front of the premise. Rather, we have to park our cars about 200meters away with security be the concerns during night time

Excellent service from the nice hotel team, was very welcoming and helpful! The sea-view room was pleasant and clean. Quite a variety of different cuisines for breakfast and love that they included a variety of Malaysian kuihs for breakfast which brings some nostalgia! In-room dining is a little bit costly but it is worth it. Clean beach and pool as well. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Many times, good reviews are not because of material things. The other major factor is service and the staffs here are exemplary of what good service represents.
Upon checking in, Daniel was instrumental in taking care of us and making sure that we were comfortable. Very pleasant and courteous chap!
Emma made sure that service recovery was to the utmost importance and also made our stay here memorable.
The team work dynamics is amazing and that truly made our stay unforgettable.
Facilities are great. Having the beach within steps is a bonus and being able to see the east coast sun rise is a treat. Though it was cloudy on the day I woke up to see the sun rise, I was still very happy to take in the sight and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
