Djambo

We stayed for 10 days at Djambo. We recommend this lovely accomadation to every one who likes peace, nice and warm atmosphere. A warm and friendy mail contact started the stay. And that continued all days. Many thanks to Liselotte, Ilse, Dick and Martin.

Djambo came to our rescue when we turned up at our planned accommodation and they knew nothing about us. We were taken to our room on the upper landing (14) and shown the ins and out of it, free wifi, a/c and the safe and then the great kitchen/patio area. The room overlooked the bar area / pool area and had a great view when the sunset. The rooms were kept clean and towels were changed when ever you put them in the basket outside your door, there is a great area for you to keep your dive gear next to room 5 and there are wheelbarrows to take your kit to the car park where the cleaning station is for all your gear. Your given 3 keys on arrival, 1 for your room, 1 for the dive storage area and 1 for the gate to get into the complex. Djambo is in a great location, 5 minute drive to the supermarket, dive shops, petrol station, local shops, restaurant's, and the airport (but the airport noise does not affect you in anyway). We have never been made to feel more welcome by Martin, Ilse, Dick and Liselotte (sorry if I've spelt it wrong), anything you need they were always on hand as both couples live on the complex, and if you need them out of hours there is an emergency intercom you can use. There are only 17 rooms built around the pool and bar area and are stocked with everything you need, pots and pans, plates, cutlery, continental oven,4 gas rings, kettle and coffee maker. We've been lucky and travelled a lot but I can honestly say this is the best holiday I have ever been on, it was so relaxed the diving was great and again the accommodation was fantastic, so much so we are going back in March for another 2 weeks. As this is my first trip to Bonaire and as a diver, it was a splendid trip with a pleasurable and mostly quiet stay at Djambo. Needing only the basics, this lodge/apts provide just a bit more than that, clean and colorful surroundings. The Dutch flair is evident; cool, calm, comfortable and pleasing to the eyes, heart and spirit. Djambo is a main and important ingredient of the "happy island". It is close to several dive shops and markets, all within walking distance of town also.

This premises opened December 2009. It is located within 5 minutes drive from the airport and a 10 minute walk from the town centre. The joint owners make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The accommodation has everything you need. The kitchens are well equipped and there is wifi almost everywhere on site. The beds are very comfortable and there is good sized room safe which is a great help for all you valuables, cameras, ipads etc. There is a large pool surrounded by sun loungers and chairs with sun umbrellas if it gets too hot for you. For divers there are good wash tanks and secure storage and drying area for your kit of the sun. This was our third visit to Bonaire and we had a great time there. Djambo was just what we needed for our first trip to Bonaire. It is close to the beach and the town centre, and easy walking to restaurants and shops. It is very quiet, and is adults only (important for me as I am a teacher on spring break!). All of my emails were answered promptly and Dick and Liselotte were super helpful and accommodating. The pool is very clean and cool with lots of spots to sit and relax. The bar opens from 5:30-7 and you can chat with other guests or the owners. The room was clean and we really liked the outdoor kitchen. We stayed on the top floor because my husband is a light sleeper. You get the afternoon sun so it's warm but you can close the doors and there are still shady spots to sit with them open. The bed was really comfortable. There was little noise at the hotel at all really. It was lovely. And excellent value!

Wonderful hosts, peaceful environment, really well laid out. 15 min walk to the main drag which was fine by me. Small little bar by the pool with cold beers, hours narrow, but hits the spot when needed. Overall an exceptional place to stay while exploring Bonaire!
