Harbour Village Beach Club

This was our second time in Bonaire and there was no doubt in my mind, we would stay Harbour Village. There are so many other places we will visit but when we want peace and quiet, this will be it. We came for a milestone birthday, the staff did everything for us, from arranging airport transportation and we say the friendliest face picking us up, Huntley. He was the same gentleman that greeted us last time and he remembered us. He said welcome home. We were greeted again by Sietze and Shainyn, who were and still are incredible host and genuine in their welcome. The rooms are very clean, the entire property for that matter is well kept. I spent a lot of time in the beach, you wouldn’t think there are birds around, the chairs, the hammocks, the beach, everything is always impecable. We wanted to explore so rented a car for the day, we never had to leave to get the car, it was brought to us and picked up at the hotel. Driving in Bonaire was not as bad as I thought it was going to be either. The hotel staff recommended Loc Bay, it’s a must see. The most beautiful place I’ve even seen, we passed the flamingo sanctuary and a few donkeys along the way. For my birthday, hubby arranged for flowers to be sent to our room, they were just gorgeous. We also booked massages, it was also amazing. First time we came to the island and Harbour Village, we just went for walks downtown which was easy and beautiful. We had all our meals at the Balandra on the property for every single meal, we tried this time only lunch outside of the property which was ok. We wound up doing all of our meals again at the Balandra and again it was amazing. Every single meal was made to perfection with fresh ingredients every single time. A special thanks to Claudia, she was here last year as just as sweet and attentive as she was then. Silas was such a gentleman very attentive, my favorite thing was each meal he would say “I have some delicious (insert meal) for you, enjoy and always stopped to say hello and check on us. Manuk at the Balandra was also very sweet and attentive. On our first night I didn’t quite want a full desert but wanted something sweet, she gave me a few green tea packets and lotus cookies (coffee cookies) and that become my daily treat, each night especially on my birthday she made sure I left with cookies when she heard we watched movies at night. If you’re like us and just keep to yourself on vacation, a great recommendation is to bring your own Roku or fire stick and hook it up in the room. Last but not least, my favorite thing was each day after being on the beach, I’d end the day in the pool, which was always clean. I would just float under the open clear skies for almost an hour each day, this became a ritual. The first time we came, I thought it was pricey but let me tell you, worth every single penny. This was and continues to be luxurious, relaxing, peaceful and just above and beyond.

My adult daughter and I spent a fabulous week at Harbor Village! We loved the beach and being able to snorkel right from the shore. The resort grounds are beautiful, as well as the attitude of all the people who work there. Service is impeccable at the restaurant and bar. The front desk worked very hard to help my daughter and I choose activities off the resort that we would enjoy. Harbor Village really raised the bar for future vacations. I will definitely return here for another week long vacation.

The resort is outstanding for its luxury experience. But if you are a diver make sure that you are OK with the current policy of only two boat dives a day, one at 10 and one at 2. Each boat goes out and you dive once and then head back in and wait. This is not like everywhere else I’ve been where it is 2 dives in the morning and then another boat in the afternoon. It just wasn’t enough diving to take classes or to meet our desire.

This resort lived up to lots of other reviews: Location- perfect, close to the airport, restaurants and marina Beach- it's own private beach- good snorkeling, lots of marine life Staff (Bar)- friendly and professional. With that said this was maybe one of the few trips we didn't feel comfortable at a resort, something made us feel unwelcomed. I can't specifically point out what exactly brought on this feeling but I can say the handling of my husband's birthday dinner left me irritated. I called as stated on their website to make reeservations for dinner prior to our arrival. The individual informed me I would receive a call back from the restaurant. This call never came. When I finally called back, I was informed the ONLY beach dinner for that day was already booked. (apparently there is only 1 beach dinner daily). I immediately shared my frustration, and I was reassured my husband would still have a wonderful dinner so I again felt confident the dinner plan would be successful. However, the night of his birthday upon arrival we saw the beach dinner set up with candle, flowers and it was stunning, our table didn't even have a candle set out , nor were the glasses set up. There appeared to be no effort made to acknowledge his birthday. We then heard them singing happy birthday for the beach diner , so my husband asked me if he couldn't even get a birthday song. I was totally embarassed and saddened that I had plan what I thought would be an amazing evening but turned out to be a regular evening , nothing special. The bar also plays clearly for a particularly audience, it was all strange cover songs ( of some decent songs) or very melancholy songs. I definitely wasn't trying to have a full party or loud bar scene but there could defnitely be a different ambiance. I come to a resort to drink, relax and enjoy my vacation, that was the most off putting bar with the onnly saviors being the staff. THANK GOD for the bar staff because i would never sit there again after the first day. ( Richie, Zayn, Claudia and Naph were the life savers). There was also the weirdest occurance, a presentation in the bar area around 4:30pm causing the horrid music & the bar services to be tapered as to not disturb. This was mind boggling as a paying customer because I was now forced to not enjoy the service & peace I was paying for.Granted the presentation didn't last long but I do think it's a huge inconvenience & needs to be relocated to a more appropriate location

We had a great time and everything and everyone was perfect. The resort is one of the best on the Iland if you like piece and quite and good service.

HVR has been my family’s favorite destination for 20 years. Consistently perfect for relaxing, diving, snorkeling, dining and just daydreaming on the beach.
