We had a really solid stay at the Hotel Maximum in Krakow! I think our room 201 was a bit of a stroke of luck in comparison - big and nice and quiet, as it faces the back. You can't hear the tram that runs right outside the door. The location is great: it's only a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, and the airport is also easy to reach because there's a stop just 10 minutes away. The city center is even closer, just a 5-10 minute walk.
The price-performance ratio is definitely right, we were completely satisfied. The breakfast was OK, but you shouldn't expect German standards - the things weren't chilled and the scrambled eggs were a bit too raw for our taste. We weren't that impressed with the breakfast room in the basement either. In the old town, which you can reach on foot, there are lots of great alternatives for a better breakfast. On the last morning I skipped breakfast and slept an extra hour.
Otherwise the hotel was fine, especially because of the central location. Check-in and check-out were super easy, no extra fees or deposit. If you are looking for a reasonable hotel in a central location, the Maximum is highly recommended.
