Loved the vibe of this place. It felt very traditional and was a super unique experience. The included dinner and breakfast were alright, not quite my speed but I enjoyed it for the most part. The morning ceremony at 6:45am was cool, and we were given a quick tour and history lesson after. The room was warm and clean, even after it snowed quite a bit overnight. The bath was great too. I’d definitely stay here again.

The vegetarian meal is relatively simple but quite grand. You can experience it in morning classes. It's definitely a different experience. We brought our seven year old and everything was very friendly. You can soak in the hot spring in the hotel at night before sleeping. There is a 9 o'clock curfew! Go to bed early and get up early. The old monk was particularly kind and sang sutras like a baritone. He used a translator on his mobile phone to explain what he said in Japanese and what he said on his mobile phone was in English. Modern technology brings us closer to Buddha.
