Chimei-in has a history of more than 900 years, but there are many rooms in the shukubo. The room facilities are a bit simpler, with shared bathrooms, and breakfast and dinner are delivered to the room, which is quite delicious. The room is quite warm in winter. There is a beautiful garden in the inner courtyard. The view from the rooms facing the garden on the first floor is not too beautiful, but unfortunately ours is on the second floor. This is my first shukubo experience and I highly recommend it to Koyasan. It’s worth it. You can participate in scripture copying, morning classes, and bathing. You have to come back before 9:30 pm. The public bathroom has to go out of the room. It's a bit cold at night in winter. There is a heater in the room. Dinner and breakfast can be sent to the room or to a separate room, which is very atmospheric.
