I have just returned from the most relaxing stay at Amara Ayurvedic Retreat. This was my third stay at Amara and all I can say is that it just keeps getting better and better. The Ayurvedic Doctor and therapist (Sunita) were exceptional, I left feeling rejuvenated and the shoulder issue I arrived with was completely resolved. I ate in the restaurant every night and found the variety and quality of the food to be exceptional. It had been two years since my last visit, I will definitely not be leaving it as long the next time. I will be returning on an annual basis to enjoy the wonderful hospitality and the amazing health benefits of the Ayurvedic team.

There was no proper welcome or receiving of guests. The staff did not appear hygienic or well-presented — their uniforms were stained, and even the room linens (bedsheets, towels, etc.) were visibly marked and unclean. The resort provides a golf cart service, but the timings keep changing as per their convenience. Sometimes it’s available only once at 8 AM and once at 9 AM, which is highly inconvenient, especially for elderly guests, given the hilly terrain. Food quality was another major letdown. The taste was average, portion sizes were tiny, and the prices were exorbitant — ₹400 for a piece of fish smaller than a bread loaf. The breakfast spread was also quite limited, and the restaurant service was painfully slow. Additionally, my room category was mixed up at check-in, causing unnecessary confusion. The villa washrooms have sliding doors, visible glass, and equipment meant for differently abled persons, which felt out of place. It might have been a good resort once, but it now feels neglected — lacking proper staff, maintenance, and attention to detail. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my stay here and would have definitely avoided this resort had I known these issues beforehand.

I absolutely loved the vibe of the place. It is a very quite place with lots of greenery which will refresh you. I think it is a perfect place for a weekend gateway. The food is also quite good

Quiet location and beautiful hotel grounds. the pool area is amazing, good place to relax and unwind; staff, especially the guys at the restaurant, are great. Big comfortable rooms, but very thin walls. The food at the restaurant is average for Kerala standards. The hotel is quite remote, no restaurants in walking distance; Trivandrum is a 30 mins drive from the hotel. It is a good place to relax on the hotel grounds, do yoga and enjoy the view, good for a short stay.

This is a beautiful and peaceful Ayurvedic five star retreat overlooking Trivandrum. It is teired at different levels into the hills, which as a result offers beautiful vistas virtually every room. The Ayurvedic treatment options can be tailored from anywhere from one day to two weeks, and are excellent! The food is wonderful, and the staff is absolutely first class.
