As we conclude our 29-day stay at Uday Samudra Hotel in Kovalam, our second visit, we're once again impressed by the spacious, well-equipped rooms and amenities that met all our needs. The attentive and warm staff made our stay special. Adesh, our room attendant, greeted us with a bright smile and showed dedication to his work. Under Arun's supervision, he kept our room spotless. In the restaurant, Manager Mr. Prashanth and his team welcomed us each day. Team members like Devi, Sibu, Sahir, Kanchan, Supriya, Shirika, Athiru, and Feba provided attentive service, enhancing our dining experience. At breakfast, Sri Murugan's coffee was delightfully delicious. At the front desk, Mr. Subesh, the Front Office Manager, was cheerful and ensured our needs were met promptly. The entire team's efforts have made our stay enjoyable. We plan to return to Uday Samudra Hotel next January.

We visited Kovalam as a family of four to attend a wedding at a nearby KTDC unit and decided to extend our stay for an extra day to relax, enjoy some family time, and indulge in the beautiful sea views and Kerala cuisine. Overall, I would rate this experience 5/5, but due to a few minor issues, I’m giving it 4.5 (but not possible so 4). What We Loved: Prime Location: The hotel is right by the beach, perfect for those looking to enjoy the sea. Thoughtful touches like brushes and water to clean off sand when returning indoors made our stay more comfortable. Dining Experience: The all-day restaurant, with a view of the sea and the refreshing breeze, was a highlight. We enjoyed tea, fresh lime, and onion pakoras—delicious snacks by the ocean. Smooth Check-in: Check-in was efficient, and despite our late arrival, the rooms were ready. We enjoyed a traditional Kerala meal at the Courtyard, and the staff was attentive and helpful. Room Comfort and Cleanliness: We booked two standard rooms with balconies facing the sea. Both rooms were neat, clean, and comfortable, with cane chairs on the balcony for relaxing. The bathrooms were well-maintained, and housekeeping was friendly and efficient. Breakfast: The breakfast at Grasshopper was fantastic, with live tea preparation and a large buffet featuring at least four traditional Kerala dishes. The staff was cheerful, attentive, and non-intrusive, making for a pleasant dining experience. Minor Issues: Bathroom Odor: One of our rooms had an unpleasant odor in the bathroom. However, the staff quickly moved us to a different room, which we appreciated. Renovation Noise: There was some disruptive noise from ongoing repairs in one of the rooms, which was bothersome as we intended to relax indoors. After raising the issue, we were moved to a third room, which was quiet and comfortable. The housekeeping staff was prompt and helpful in assisting with the move. Weather Disappointment: Although our room had a sunset view, the weather didn’t cooperate, and clouds blocked the full sunset. Conclusion: Despite a few minor setbacks, the hotel’s excellent location, attentive staff, and overall comfort made for a wonderful stay. I would definitely visit again and look forward to experiencing more of Kovalam’s beauty!

We had a grate reception at this wonderful resort. After checking in and refreshing, we had a private dinner at the lovely upper balcony, celebrating birthday. Manoj got ready for our arrival, decorated the balcony with baloons, arranged the magnificent table with candles and rose leaves. Serving us, he explained each and every dish, gave us recommendations according to our taste, talked with us, took great photos, was very polite and patient. Thanks to Manoj this evening was extraordinary! Thank you Manoj!

With all the grand claims UDS samudra gives experience of a cheap lodge , be it the interior of rooms where moulds of could be seen and quality of hospitality is substandard. The property got its 5 star ratings once and now they are cashing upon it . It stands as the carcass of a more than 20 year old property. The beach on which the branding of this property stands is actually very unsafe and local fishermen use it for docking their boat . This property is definitely understaffed. The core problem of this hotel is organisational mindset where the staff feels that they are doing some kind of charity while serving the buffet . Now coming to the food served in these buffets , it's substandard which I feel is intentional to keep another two dying resturant in the premises alive . I really wish the reputation of kerela tourism to be good . Uds Samudra is like said earlier is a black mould which needs to be scrapped and re created . I am talking about both infra and upper management which sets the standards for organisational behaviour.
