Somatheeram Ayurveda Village

This was my first experience of an Ayurveda Centre anywhere in the world. As someone who is well travelled and advises others on their travel, I would highly recommend The Somatheeram Ayurveda Village. The rooms are not 5 star Western standard, but they are comfortable and have everything you need. The Ayurveda treatments you receive everyday are incredible. The care, the consideration and the medical supervision is all adapted to your needs and not set in stone, which for me was essential. The food was plentiful, freshly cooked and delicious. Every single staff member from the reception team, restaurant, to the gardeners were happy, smiley and willing to do everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible. There is daily yoga, meditation and swimming. The private beach is safe, the usual trades people but friendly! It is possible to go out on short trips to the Backwaters and also a fabulous village /school trip with Coastal Brains that I would also recommend. I organised these myself not through the hotel. The flexibility of being able to experience all three properties within the group, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as any activities (apart from your treatments) is also a huge bonus. If you are considering an Ayurveda experience, even though it was my first experience and I do not have another centre to compare it with, I would not hesitate to recommend The Somatheeram Ayurveda Village, I wish I had booked 3 weeks and not just 2!!

There are some experiences that go beyond words—Somatheeram is one of them. Nestled in the sacred, lush coastal beauty of Kerala, this place is not just a resort—it is a sanctuary for the soul. I arrived with the intention of doing Panchakarma, but I am leaving with so much more: a renewed body, a peaceful heart, and a deeper connection to my inner self. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced with warmth, care, and attentiveness that felt deeply genuine. The team at Somatheeram- every doctor, therapist, housekeeper, and staff member—be it at the reception or in the restaurant—offered their service with mindfulness and love. Their dedication went far beyond the expected. Whether it was tailoring meals not listed on the menu (black masala tea/lactose free desserts or gluten free meals) , checking in with sincere concern during treatments. Having previously experienced wellness at renowned places like Henri Chenot, I can honestly say that what Somatheeram offers is on a different level—deeper, purer, and more spiritually aligned. I leave with immense gratitude—for the wisdom of Ayurveda, for the sacredness of India, and most of all, for the extraordinary souls who make Somatheeram so special. Great atmosphere. Starting from the very welcome, for the complete stay & while checking out, a world class resort. The hospitality is top notch, special kudos to the Manager, Mr Sujesh who will always be there to make your stay a bit more comfortable, a bit more knowledgeable & you wont get a feel that you have come for the first time here. Great facilities, peaceful environment. Must recommended for rejuvenation therapies or for anyone looking to de stress. Thanks again.

I came to Kerala to rest, but the healing moved like water — slow, deliberate, eternal. It didn’t rush or reach; it simply returned me to the places within I had forgotten were whole. 🌊 Somatheeram didn’t just touch the body; it spoke in a language older than words — a hum felt more than heard. In the hush of temple corridors, beneath moss and monsoon light, something ancient began to stir. A remembering. A rhythm. A pulse beneath all things. 🌿 And perhaps that’s what this place offered — not perfection, but a sacred undoing. The gentle burning away of all that dimmed my own radiance. 💫 Each morning opened like a prayer, sunlight spilling through palm leaves, silence rising between heartbeats. Oil, breath, salt, and devotion — everything became medicine when met with presence. It was an amazing experience to train under the expert guidance of Doctor Sreejith and Doctor Binu and the highly experienced therapist Sreekumari. The Somatheeram Ayurvedic Resort is in a beautiful setting, has a peaceful friendly atmosphere and the staff are highly qualified. In addition to the professional, thorough approach of all those who work at the clinic, the general manager was always keen to ensure my stay was perfect. I was able to enjoy delicious food, with a doctor always on site to assist with food choices and explanations. In my free time, I much appreciated the ayurvedic treatments, wonderful personalised yoga lessons and the organisation of a boat trip on the backwaters. I would highly recommend the Somatheeram Ayurvedic Resort for both treatment and training programs.

I had a perfect week, so relaxing that I have totally disconnected from my job, which is very hard for me, being an workoholic. Everything was great: the staff, the rooms, the garden, the food, the massages, everything. The staff was extremely welcoming and caring, it was a pleasure to talk to them every day. The entire place was very clean and the garden very well mentained, it was very relaxing to have a walk on the property, among the cottages. The food was absolutely delicious. I have a very strict diet and usually, when I travel, I chose a place where to have my own kitchen, so that I can cook my own food. But here there were around 13 dishes at each meal, and 90% of them were in accordance with my diet. The ones containing gluten, or sugar were signalised, so that I can chose properly.
