Because I booked it two days before check-in, the price was very expensive, but the room was large, and it was in the ancient city of Kotor. You could wander around the ancient city as late as you wanted at night. The front desk service is very good 👍

So I always try and be balanced when leaving reviews, especially as I have my own Independent Travel Agency and I travel often for work. I travelled to Montenegro for a long weekend for my Birthday. Positives: - Hotel is in the heart of the old city walls which is quaint and lovely to stroll around. It is close to everything you need and you can’t complain about the stunning location. Kotor is lovely, but one night in the city is more than enough. - Check in staff were lovely and I was able to check in a hour early. - The room was huge, we paid for the Luxury Suite as a birthday treat, it was period decorated to match the vibe of the hotel but still felt modern. The room itself was pretty with the brickwork and old walls. The view from it was also not too bad, though did lack a little table and chair on the balcony (even though it is just about big enough. It would have been nice for morning coffee. The bathroom had a huge bathtub which was nice, band the room had all the typical amenities you would expect. Negatives: - The hotel is pretty quiet with the windows closed despite being only 2 floors high from the hustle and bustle - Our room was next to a loud bar which does keep going until the small hours, we were lucky that our room as L shapes and the bed was round the other side so made it quite faint, with ear plugs in I couldn’t then hear anything, though pretty poor considering the price point. - The bed was EXTREMELY firm and the pillows lumpy, I do like a firm bed, but that was even too firm for me. It also creaked every time you moved which was loud in the night. - The bizarrely no overhead shower, not even over the huge bath (though it did have a shower head you can pull from the bath and use by hand), it was faff to shower, oddly it also had a creepy window with no blind that if someone was near the bed, then they are seeing you in your glory. Whilst I am close to my partner, we don’t share toilet time, it was a bit off putting. - Oddly the minibar is cash, so don’t get caught out. - I found the price point a little steep, €250 is a lot for an average room, noisy location at night and not a good night sleep, you are only paying for the location. - When you pass through reception to go to your room, you walk past the kitchen staff all sat out smoking etc. pretty grim as a non-smoker but also not what you expect from a 4* hotel, put a nice screen up or something and let the staff break in peace. In summary, the hotel is 3* average, it was pleasant enough but about €100 a night over priced for the quality of the room and experience, location is what you are paying for, which is lovely. I wouldn’t stay here again, I am glad we only stayed for 1 night.

Villa Duomo was an excellent base in the old town for visiting Kotor. Cars cannot get to the hotel so you have to pull your bags to the front door. The hotel is great but lots of stairs and the lift was out of action when we went so dont go if you cant climb the stairs. We stayed in room 9, lovely big room very creaky bed! Bed is in keeping with the room but is very hard and needs replacing! Breakfast was adequate but the staff were excellent, very helpful and look after their guests. Would definately recommend it.

We stayed in apartment 2. It was VERY noisy until 1am due to the loud music from the bar next door. Which as far as I can tell happens every night. The exterior door is opposite the apartment door and when left open by other guests it was even worse. The breakfast was also very basic and had no good vegetarian options. My partner ended up with luke warm scrambled egg, bread and cheese. Also housekeeping was not good. The bed was made and towels replaced the bathroom was not 'cleaned' at all. Adding the fact that you are only given paper cups to use for the coffee (which was not restocked) enough was enough. For somewhere that charges over 200 euros a night I thought this very poor. Whilst all the staff where very friendly and extremely helpful the other problems could not be ignored so much so we cut our visit short and moved on elsewhere.

This hotel has so much character, which is symptomatic of being right in the middle of Kotor’s old town and only a very short distance from the main (sea) gate, outside which the tourist information kiosk is located. There are so many bars, cafés and restaurants within a few seconds’ walk. I have no idea how old the building is but it has all the look and feel of a converted medieval castle. Our room was big and comfortable (as was the bed) with great views of the Church of St Tryphon and a small kitchen & fridge. The only minor complaint I would have is that the shower, which is separate from the sink and toilet and has no door for privacy, only has a hand held shower head. It’s not to easy to wash your hair (or anywhere else really) with one hand while having to hold the shower head with the other. Surely a hook could easily be fixed on to the wall. We even had a private sauna in the room but I can’t imagine spending €30 per day, just to get probably no more than 30 mins usage. Breakfast, served outdoor on the patio (unless it’s raining), has a range of options and each we tried set us up for the full day. A special mention must go to the staff, who were incredibly nice and efficient. Vladana and Milica share all the reception and breakfast service duties (alternating 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm shifts) but are never seen without a smile on their faces and Bojana seems to combine the breakfast cooking and maid roles. They are all such lovely people. If this isn’t one of the best hotels in the old town then there must be an unbelievable number of top 5* hotels there.

This is a nice place with friendly people. Please note that some rooms face a restaurant that has LIVE music in the evening . In our case the performance took place exactly in front of our window. They stopped at around 23:00 and it was nice music so we did not really mind , but it could be noisy. Breakfast is excellent !

Villa Duomo in Kotor was a great surprise. Affordable boutique hotel in the Old City with great amenities. You’re in the heart of the city. Staff is incredibly polite and helpful. The breakfast, which is included, was outstanding. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a romantic getaway.

The design concept and decor are stunning, but totally impractical and overprice Our lofted room in the attic was an excellent space to spread out in the lower half of the room, but the only seats were two formal armchairs that were far from relaxing. The loft itself was similarly quirky, with very low beams that left us crawling in and out of bed all night, worried we’d smash our foreheads on the stone. The rustic bathroom was easily flooded given the open shower and the TV didn’t work. In fact, neither did the main lights (seemingly on a short), nor did the lift (five flights up with a large bag was no fun!). Finally, the room was *extremely* loud with the next door bar crowded, until 1am. All that said, the hotel is superbly located and the managing staff were extremely kind and helpful with us at each moment!.
