The Stillwell Hotel is right on the Charlotte Pass ski fields so we could literally ski into our accommodation. The kids slope with lessons was very close and visible from the bar/cafe. The accommodation itself is basic but it’s clean and the rooms are serviced daily. We spent most of our time out in the snow so only really slept in the rooms so the basic nature of the accommodation wasn’t an issue for us. We also had an interconnecting room which was great for our family. The food and drinks were good, but priced as to be expected for a remote ski village. The guest services team in the ski centre were great especially the ski hire people who were knowledgeable and helpful.

Unclean room. Carpet filthy . Cups had to have food scraped off. Staffers barge into room without knocking . No facilities in tiny room so forced to patronise “restaurant “. Animal droppings in hallway. Lousy menu, tasteless food. Refusal to refund prepaid room cost when forced to leave early.

We had everything we needed to complete the Snowy Alpine Trail at Stillwell. A comfy bed and a warm shower at the end of the trail each day. The food was good considering we stayed out of snow season and there was only one person in the kitchen. The salad was fresh and chicken cooked well. Only a few meals available but they were cooked well. Staff were lovely at all times. Wine and beer was cold! Highly recommend Stillwell for being handy to walk the trails nearby.

Summer in the Snowies was better for having stayed at the Stillwell Hotel at Charlotte Pass. Only open in summer for a limited time, the reception and service we enjoyed was first class. Understandably, for a place that is in the middle of nowhere, the menu was limited but each meal was delicious, served quickly and efficiently, and all washed down with a cool drink or a coffee from the bar. Staff are attentive and guest focused, especially Jessica, Charlie, Sarah and Liam who all looked after us very well while we were there. We’d be back anytime.

The hotel was our base for 4 days while walking the Snowies Alpine trail. It was basic but had comfortable beds, good showers and reasonable space. The balcony wasn’t accessible because it was in need of serious renovation. The food in the restaurant was just OK (it was the only place open for food in the village at the time we were there).
