Myself and my partner just returned from a week stay at Mitsis Summer Palace and although we had a pleasant stay I would not consider this to be a 5 star hotel. Granted the location of the hotel is idyllic and the infinity pools are very nice places to relax, however considering the price paid, the food and service in my opinion really let the hotel down. Upon our arrival late at night, no water had been provided in our room which after a long day of traveling was not ideal. We had to go back to reception to request this. In the morning we went to the fresca bar for brunch which was disappointing, unless you are a vegetarian this probably will not be suitable for you. The main buffet does not have a lot of choice at all for both breakfast and dinner and the fruit and veg is often surrounded by many flies. The chips were usually the only suitable option for dinner so recommend you book the a la carte restaurants in advance, however there really isn’t much choice on the a la carte restaurant menus either and we found that the food was average. The Dusk restaurant was okay and had a nice atmosphere however the gyozas were pan fried and tasted only of oil. The sushi although it tasted nice, i became very ill the next day and cant be sure whether this was the cause. The med restaurant was okay however there was a mix up with our food order meaning my partners food was brought out and mine was forgotten which was a shame as his food had gone cold by the time mine arrived. The staff seemed quite unbothered and impolite when we tried to address this. Med brunch was average however be aware when the hotel offers “fresh fruit” i found this to be limited to banana watermelon and melon. A bit more variety would be nice. Also excursions are cheaper if you book them via third party and not directly at the hotel. However if you do book excursions with transfers externally (using get your guide or tui etc) a lot of them will not pick you up directly from this hotel and you have to walk for a little while to the mitsis norida. The location of the hotel is beautiful however it is far out from absolutely everything. I would say this hotel is NOT suitable for young kids as there are so many stairs and the lifts do not take you all the way to the top and bottom of the complex which can be an annoyance. Also entertainment at this hotel is almost non existent apart from some dancing at the den restaurant occasionally and a “dj” which was disappointing. Another thing to note, we were overall satisfied with our room which had a sea view and was nicely decorated however we did notice that even though the beds were made up every day, the bed linens were not changed even once during our week stay. This was evident due to the creases in the fabric and a tiny stain which we noticed on our first day. Make sure you book everything (restaurants, cabanas, late checkout) way in advance on the mitsis app or at reception as otherwise they will not accept your booking and ask
