We are on the last day of our holiday and we have had a lovely time. Our room, a superior double with a sea view was amazing. The decor is very contemporary has a huge bed and a fantastic bathroom. It’s probably one of the best rooms I’ve ever stayed in. With regards to the room, my only feedback is the pillows were too soft for me. The stocking of the mini bar was generally fine, the only feedback here for the hotel is to make sure the drinks are topped up with a selection of different drinks, we seemed to have just white wine on some days ! We didn’t try the al a carte restaurants as they are all at sea level and it was a little cool and windy in the evenings for us. The buffet restaurant was very good with a very wide selection of food and all of a very good standard. The only minor issue was we often had to go to the main bar to get our own drinks. The staff are very friendly and the facilities around the hotel are good. We ventured to Kos Town on the bus and we found the area which felt like the old Town with lots of lovely streets and shops. We had a meal in Kardamena which was really nice and it’s a lovely town which is just waking up from the winter. A taxi is 12 euros which is good value. There’s a lovely walk along the sea into kardamena which takes around 1 hour 20 mins and it’s very accessible and flat. I just wish that there was less litter on the island, it was very sad to see so many discarded plastic bottles and rubbish on our walk to Kardamena. Perhaps the local hotels could help with litter picking and the local council could provide bins.

Where to begin with this review of the delightful Mitsis Summer Palace. Check-in/Reception Team Our arrival was met with a warm welcome from the Reception team. Check-in was seamless and we were provided with information (including a map of the resort) of this gorgeous resort. The team were very attentive, noticing our 6 year old son who was travelling with us. They gave him a complimentary wooden toy set. This was a very nice touch! A member of the concierge team helped us with our luggage. Restaurants, Bars & Buffet The resort’s restaurants are all very lovely. Each one offering a unique dining experience and selection of food/drinks. Our favourite was The Den BBQ. The resorts main buffet offers a lovely selection of food. The drink offering throughout the bars of the resort is very good! For daytime relaxation, Fresco Bar is a great place to sit and have a drink. There’s gorgeous views of the island from there. Also this is next to a number of the luxury pools the resort has to offer. We had brunch at the gorgeous suspended Nests! This is well worth it if you want to add a dinning experience with a difference to your stay. They also offer a private BBQ in the Nests. Room We stayed in the Double Sea View Room which featured a gorgeous balcony. The views are spectacular. The room is equally gorgeous, light and airy with modern decor. Entertainment & Family Amenities It’s hard to fault this resort. However, there is room for improvement particularly with regard to the entertainment offering and amenities for families with children. Although the resort does have entertainment, we found it ok. The resort could improve this by having more captivating performers etc. When it comes to amenities for families with young children the resort is sadly very lacking. There does not seem to be much deigned with children in mind. Although the resort is marketed to include families it felt more like a luxurious adults only resort (even though it is not advertised as such). We made enquiries with the reception team about this and they advised that the neighbouring Mitsis sister hotels would be the best place(s) to go for child focused amenities. There is no extra charge for accessing the facilities. The resort has a shuttle service which operates between the hotel and children’s pool at (Mitsis Family Palace). This became our daytime base. The pool features slides and is great for all the family to relax. There is a bar which serves soft drinks, ice-cream and a selection of alcoholic beverages for the grown ups. The only slight criticism about this pool is that on all the occasions we were there, there was no lifeguard in sight. House keeping No holiday is complete without the housekeeping team. The team at Summer Palace were brilliant! Our room always looked amazing every time we got back from the day’s activities! A massive thank you to the team who look after us! Overall Overall our experience at Mitsis Summer Palace was fantastic. It’s a

Myself and my partner just returned from a week stay at Mitsis Summer Palace and although we had a pleasant stay I would not consider this to be a 5 star hotel. Granted the location of the hotel is idyllic and the infinity pools are very nice places to relax, however considering the price paid, the food and service in my opinion really let the hotel down. Upon our arrival late at night, no water had been provided in our room which after a long day of traveling was not ideal. We had to go back to reception to request this. In the morning we went to the fresca bar for brunch which was disappointing, unless you are a vegetarian this probably will not be suitable for you. The main buffet does not have a lot of choice at all for both breakfast and dinner and the fruit and veg is often surrounded by many flies. The chips were usually the only suitable option for dinner so recommend you book the a la carte restaurants in advance, however there really isn’t much choice on the a la carte restaurant menus either and we found that the food was average. The Dusk restaurant was okay and had a nice atmosphere however the gyozas were pan fried and tasted only of oil. The sushi although it tasted nice, i became very ill the next day and cant be sure whether this was the cause. The med restaurant was okay however there was a mix up with our food order meaning my partners food was brought out and mine was forgotten which was a shame as his food had gone cold by the time mine arrived. The staff seemed quite unbothered and impolite when we tried to address this. Med brunch was average however be aware when the hotel offers “fresh fruit” i found this to be limited to banana watermelon and melon. A bit more variety would be nice. Also excursions are cheaper if you book them via third party and not directly at the hotel. However if you do book excursions with transfers externally (using get your guide or tui etc) a lot of them will not pick you up directly from this hotel and you have to walk for a little while to the mitsis norida. The location of the hotel is beautiful however it is far out from absolutely everything. I would say this hotel is NOT suitable for young kids as there are so many stairs and the lifts do not take you all the way to the top and bottom of the complex which can be an annoyance. Also entertainment at this hotel is almost non existent apart from some dancing at the den restaurant occasionally and a “dj” which was disappointing. Another thing to note, we were overall satisfied with our room which had a sea view and was nicely decorated however we did notice that even though the beds were made up every day, the bed linens were not changed even once during our week stay. This was evident due to the creases in the fabric and a tiny stain which we noticed on our first day. Make sure you book everything (restaurants, cabanas, late checkout) way in advance on the mitsis app or at reception as otherwise they will not accept your booking and ask

This was a trip for my birthday and the customer service from reception is beyond poor. We were looking forward to the famous Greek hospitality but experienced the opposite. I think the reception staff are trained to be as unhelpful as possible. In the end, we did everything possible not to speak to them and tried our best to work things out for ourselves (which was hardly the relaxing stay we were after). Not all the customer service was poor (thank goodness) some of the waiters (big shout out to AB, Captain Billy, George?and Alex), cleaners and local taxi drivers really saved the trip for us! However, these staff members were let down by operational issues which regularly left them short-staffed and stressed! The room was lovely and we really enjoyed the private pool. However, it was not enough to make the trip relaxing! We heard from some other guests that they didn’t have water in their room and were lied to and also treated poorly by reception! Honestly, I think people on here are doing a disservice to people wanting a relaxing and stress free holiday by rating this place more than 2. Please save your money, unless aesthetics mean that much to you!!! If that doesn’t scare you, one night our bed was infested with the BIGGEST FLYING ANTS I have ever seen so it’s not even clean and we are leaving sad and bitten!!
