Dimitra Beach Hotel & Suites

Me and my boyfriend went here 2 years ago now, and even to this day talk about this hotel. It’s our favourite holiday we’ve been on and we compare every hotel to it! We would love to come back to this hotel definitely in the future………………………………….

There are many positives but this hotel is ambitious and in my opinion just about reaches 3 star for the following reasons. So listen carefully. It is in a remote location with a 10 minute drive away from town. There is a bus stop outside with a cost of €2 per person. However forget the bus time table as the buses will arrive whenever and can leave you waiting 20mins to an hour. They will always been totally rammed. You could arrange a transfer via the hotel but again this is an over inflated price and is another tax on the tourist. The hotel should run a shuttle bus it is simple as that. Some staff are at best displeased and leave you feeling you have inconvenienced them. Levels of english can really vary. Standards of staff behaviour also vary. Two girls were fondling each other around a corner near the main restaurant one evening, another girl had a screaming breakdown behind the smaller restaurant, this is where they all have their cigarette breaks. Breakfast coffee is served to you by waiting staff - unlike most other resorts which have self serve machines, is freshly ground. The served coffee here is small, not hot and not great. The pool towels provided are very thin. The accommodation doors are old pvc with key locks that have the door number on so if you lost it a thief would know exactly where to go. Food: there are rarely any form of fresh pastries but the overall selection is adequate though rather tasteless. The fish is rare and tastes defrosted. I really don’t think there is any fresh cooking that happens here other than the grill. The beach needs a pontoon so that you can get into the water without breaking a leg on rocks. The sun loungers and decking on the beach are tired and have seen better days. The hotels is quiet, the evening entertainment is just two loud speakers on stands playing bad wedding music - that’s situated next to the main restaurant. The cleaning staff and the gardeners clearly work the hardest and the hotel offers Molton Brown toiletries bathrobes and slippers and even a hessian beach bag and flip flops. I would swap all of the for decent fresh food. This hotel lacks character it could be anywhere.

Clueless management, very badly run hotel. We arrived at 1.00am and was told to go to the bar for a drink by George. Obviously with 3 children under 10 and travelling all day, we just wanted to get to our room. Finally got our room and no beds or bedding for the children 😫 I mean surely if you run and manage a hotel, bedding is the basics for your booked guests, it wasn't as if they didn't know we were coming. I was given another room to go to with one child my wife stayed with the other two. The next day we got our room mid afternoon. George on the desk said come to see the manager in the morning for apology and compensate us somehow. We went a dozen times and he or she was never available, was there even a manager? What a joke. On the 3rd day not naming names but a staff member knowing how many times I'd tried to speak with the so called management, gave us two all inclusive bands, which was nice of them but we aren't big drinkers, or eaters, half board was enough for us. Dining in the thalasa greek restaurant a staff member poured a large glass of red wine down my wife's back and long hair, she was completely covered and soaked to her underwear also staining our 1 year old's pram. Sure accidents happen, but the two waiting staff seemed to think it was funny, only bringing a mop, no napkins, barely an apology. One of them Albanian the other a young lad both with zero customer service skills. After complaining, someone came to us and said take the clothes to reception and they'll be washed. Yet to see what they come back like as we're still here. Shame, as the hotel is nice in many ways, just managed badly. If you like beaches this has an awful stone beach but an amazing back drop. Won't return, wouldn't recommend.

Amazing stay, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The seating area near reception felt like being on a ship at sea, you are so close to the water, and the view across to the mountainous island. Lovely food, lovely people, lovely walks along the beach! It's my problem with all trips, having to drink bottled water and then picking up 100s of bottled water caps on the beach (the bottles must have broken down in the ocean). I did this on the beach in the area that isn't at the front of Dmitra. This is not something that people would see unless looking, nor does it spoil the beach.

Lovely hotel with many wonderful pool areas and beach right in front. Especially the service manager and his staff at the restaurant were really friendly and helpful. Bus goes to the Kos city and back few times/day. We had a wonderful holiday!
