The Livemax Hotel in Marunouchi was incredible! The service I received from the staff was top notch! I felt well-accommodated and the public bath was just the cherry on top. There are many places to eat in the surrounding streets, including izakayas, Korean BBQ, Chinese, and many Indian/Nepali places. The restaurants/pubs can be quite lively at night with people spilling into the streets to eat/drink/chat with their friends. In addition to the big malls above the JR station, there is a Bic Camera and 100 yen store down the street from the hotel, many convenience stores, and a 24-hour supermarket and drugstore a short walk away.

The check-in desk was well staffed when I arrived & my lack of Japanese & decent IT skills wasn’t an issue. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the only thing I didn’t love about the design of the dormitory was the steps to the upper bunks - they prevented wheeled bags being pushed easily past them (for unpacking & repacking). In other capsule hotels, the steps are built in to the front of the capsules, the don’t lean against them and take up floor space. On departure day (10 am check-out), I checked out at around 9.40 and made myself a Noodle Pot to eat at one of the tables opposite the desk, before leaving for an 11.06 Shinkansen. Nobody questioned this but all of the Japanese-speaking guests who checked out after me appeared to be told that they couldn’t stay, even for a coffee - they had to go and stand outside.
