This hotel is dangerous.I booked through Trip.com, arrived at the hotel and on the first night the manager called me into the lobby and said the following
Your booking is through an agent and the tax amount will not be credited to your account.So you are now threatened with the choice of paying that Indian tax in cash or writing the best rating on Google Maps.
I refused to do either and contacted the support at trip.com where I made the booking, who confirmed that I had paid in full and did not need to make any additional payments.
However, at the point of check-out, I was again pressured to either pay cash or write the highest rating on Google Maps, which I felt was dangerous and ran away.
I am writing to let you know that staying at this hotel will have these consequences for you.

No kitchen in facilities....I stayed 2 days there and both days third class *Puri sabji* given and telephone not working....overall bad no co operation with staff.

The hotel is in a small narrow alley surrounded by shops meat sellers and the like. Not an ideal place to enjoy your holidays. The rooms are all right.

A great experience with this hotel sonar bangla guest house, its location just behind the new market. Hotel manager and staff's behaviour are very well. Hotel maintenance and cleaning is very very good

Well built rooms, but the location is quite remote and one has to go through various crowded alleyways to reach the hotel. Nevertheless the staff is good and overall a decent low-budget place for solo travellers looking to visit kolkata for 1-2 days.
