Hotels in Kai Bae Beach, Koh Chang

The Awa Hotel is well designed and beautifully set out. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We had a couple of problems ... no hot water when we arrived and the power blew in the room on the first night. We were impressed with the speed that the staff dealt with these problems to our complete satisfaction, when told of them. Great facilities but I do have one gripe with the breakfast. Overall, the breakfast facilities were excellent, the choice wide ranging and the staff very helpful. However, the vegetarian options were poor. Firstly, I pre-messaged them to alert them to the fact that I would need a vegetarian breakfast but that had obviously not registered with them. Over the next three days of our stay, the main part of the breakfast was a mix of eggs, fried vegetables and rice, which is boring and uninspiring. I would not have thought beyond the wit of a good cook to have at least one vegetarian based option available to all. Besides this significant disappointment, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very clean, freshly renovated rooms (building K). Each room has a hot pot kettle. But mattresses are quite hard. Fresh water, shampoo, toilet paper and trash bags daily. Good breakfast buffet. Always different kinds of one of each: soup, fried rice, noodles, vegetable and chicken dish. Three types of fruit and salad bar. However, there is only one person preparing eggs and pancakes, which results in a long queue. And only instant coffee. Location is nice, but the hotel doesn’t practically have its own beach (as well as pool, sun beds and beach towels). During the low tide, it’s impossible to swim due to bushes of seaweed. The beach is nice for morning swims and evening walks. Also elephants are brought there for a swim multiple times a day.

I have been many times in this hotel over the years, and I keep coming back! The hotel is on a cliff, with a beach at the bottom. There are 2 swimming pools. The rooms are spacious and all give a view over the sea. Breakfast is in the top building, where a mountain cabin goes from the bottom building, to avoid a steep walk up or down. The grounds are a well kept garden, which could compete with a botanic garden. During the night you hear crickets and frogs, and all kind of other jungle noises. Monies visit the grounds as well, looking for fruits. If you leave a door open to the balcony, you can have a monkey visiting your room, and stealing an apple or other visible fruit. It is a very children safe place as well, as there are no cars nor motorbikes allowed on the grounds, apart from the parking. This is the place to go in Koh Chang!

The hotel's location is decent, with a 7/11, cafes, restaurants, and everything a tourist could need within easy reach. Unfortunately, we weren't thrilled or even satisfied with our stay. We stayed in budget rooms. Our room had very poor lighting; the small, frosted windows let in minimal natural light, and the artificial lighting within the room was also extremely dim. Overall, the room didn't feel cozy at all; it was like living in a cave. Perhaps this was due to the low season, but it felt like the hotel was in a semi-abandoned state; the pool's jacuzzi and fountains weren't working at all, and the grounds were poorly maintained. For about 3-4 days, what we presumed to be monkey droppings lay in the chill-out area near the budget rooms, and no one bothered to clean them up 🙃. The hotel staff themselves were nice and very friendly; we had no issues with them. The problem, we believe, lies with the higher management, who seem to have neglected the entire hotel. It's also important to note that the hotel is virtually integrated into the jungle, resulting in a lot of wildlife, including monkeys, on the grounds.

As good as expected, the hotel is in an area. I was a little afraid of getting lost at first, but later it was okay as long as I got familiar with it. Remember the way to the beach and the way to the main street. The hotel area is well greened and comfortable, and there are fewer people living on this beach than on the White Beach, so it is very quiet and suitable for lying down, whether in the room or on the beach. The hotel also has a swimming pool, but I sat on the beach this time and didn't experience it. This room type is an independent cottage. It takes one or two minutes to walk along the path to the beach. Even in the room, you can see a little bit of the sea. The beach is a restaurant open to the public and also a place to eat breakfast. There are few people on the beach, very comfortable. If you are lucky, you can meet a baby elephant that provides tourists with a bathing experience. There is no fire show in the restaurant on this beach. If you want to see a fire show, go to the White Beach. It is also within walking distance from the main street. There are 711, restaurants, souvenir shops, massage shops, and everything else on the main street. There is an elephant park not far away, which provides various elephant experience projects. If you are lucky, you can even see elephants walking on the road. Thanks to the Chinese families who occasionally show up with their kids to experience the program, we passers-by have the chance to see it by the way. Overall, I like it very much. If I go there next time, I will probably consider it again.

Интерьер спартанский но все чисто, без насекомых и запахов. Заселялся дистанционно - позвонил, сказали номер комнаты. Выезжал так де. Депозитов не берут. Большая проблема с парковкой.

The room was spacious, stylish decorated, and very comfortable bed, including all the essentials. Its central location, along with a awesome swimming pool The staff were helpful, . This hotel offers excellent value for money. In comparison, a nearby sanook sanang resort only provides basic, camping-style rooms for a similar price, often with issues related to cleanliness and insects.

Everything is good, but there are a lot of mosquitoes. The breakfast is very good, ordering system, can be eaten until the afternoon, no time limit.

Good not expensive family hotel. Very cool location, first coastline. On which there is a Koban cafe, very cool. Territory is not very, you can say no. Outside the bungalow looks not very, but inside decent. Wi-Fi is normal. The hotel is generally priced, but wins by the location and beach of a chic. There are only 6 houses and very few people, nearby shops and cafes are not expensive

Nice room and decent hotel. Breakfast looks better than it tastes. The warm daily dishes are disappointing and there is absence of good Thai food. The bread, deli meat, cheeses, bread and salad choices are fine. Eggs and waffles are made to order and they are fine. Restaurant is not air conditioned and has small fans which add very little ventilation. Had issues twice with air conditioning and tub. Maid kept room very clean and made towels into pretty shapes along with flowers on bed. Made mistake of coming in May and it was miserably hot and most chairs are not shielded from the sun. The beach although beautiful is very narrow and filled with large rocks and coral so not good for walking or swimming. Had to walk down beach to find a better beach area but it lacked shade. If you can get the room without the 300 baht each normal charge I would suggest it. We had one day nearby in a cheaper hotel because we arrived late. Problem we had in May is there very few breakfast choices near either hotel. Very few street food vendors and mainly overpriced western food. Took several days to find good Thai food. I would recommend Koh Kood if you are alone. Better beaches and cheaper foods
