Ive been to many noisy big cities all over the World but nothing as deafening as this place. First is the road noise, your room faces the main highway no more than 10 meters away. On one side is a school with screaming kids all afternoon only ending about 6pm. So for an hour the only noise problem isd the road. But at 7 pm the real noise begings from Mopi's next door which blares their band at over 100decibels like a Jakarta disco. Brownouts are also frequent; we had no power 8 to 930pm. Mopis has a generator so the respite from the noise during brownouts is shortlived.

Perfect place to stay, clean, airy room, verandah and pleasant garden to sit in. Had great local food cooked in-house; English spoken. Great for an early start for Kelimutu Lakes. Live music at the place next door but they were pretty good so the noise was OK.

Mahoni guest house has clean rooms with hot shower and really good breakfast with fresh fruit made by owner`s sister Haja. I travelled around Flores solo and was so lucky to find Mahoni guesthouse to stay. The owner Galank helped me get around by car or motorbike if the sights were nearby - it was extremely helpful as I don`t drive myself. The best part about staying at Mahoni and hanging out with Galank was to be able to slow down and really enjoy leisurely life - one of the days after having visited Kelimutu I ended up doing nothing much, just reading in the hammock in the beautiful garden of the guesthouse and having lunch at the restaurant next door (which is really good and just few meters away from Mahoni guesthouse). The guesthouse house has calming atmosphere and Galank will do everything to make you feel at home as well as strike up a good conversation - would definitely recommend to stay here every time.
