Koh Mak Hotels with Swimming Pools

We have a great time staying at Mira Montra Koh Mak. Front desk is very kind and helpful. Room is clean, bed is super comfortable. Free to borrow kayak, sup board and snorkeling equipments. Thanks to N’ Chai for recommending snorkeling spot at Koh Phi, that we can go there by kayaking. At Koh Phi diving spot is full of sea anemone, pink anemone fish and pack of various kind of fish. But not recommend when strong wind, high wave and strong currents quite risk. Hope to have spend more days here again.

We chose this place without knowing much about the island of ko mak. The hotel is very pleasant, green environment, the huts are pretty and clean, the swimming pool is a big plus and pleasant. The only concern is that you have to rent a scooter to get around, which was done through the hotel.

Resort is on top of a hill so no direct beach access. Closest beach is cococape beach which is beautiful and if you just go around the corner you will have a lonely beach with beautiful dark rocks stuck in the white sand. Another great beach is close to seavana and koh mak resort about 15 min walking. Motorbike rental is 250 baht per day and gas ablut 40 baht per liter. Massages are 350 baht per hour. It was the best massage I had in all of Thailand. Kayak rental can be done at cococape or koh mak resort. Hotel has a pick up service for free when you arrive at the pier. There are many live concerts at various locations on the island as well as fireshows and night markets. The resort itself is very clean, quiet, AC works fine and shower has hot water. Pool is cleaned everyday and breakfast was very good. Staff is super friendly. I paid about 90 USD per night which is a high price for koh mak, but compared to other resorts it is very high standard resort. Never had problems with sandflies (I stayed for 8 days) but I do recommend to take mosquito spray.

Recommended by a friend I went to this place full of expectations for a quiet stay with no hustle and bustle to deal with - as Bangkok is getting insane these days. I've got what I needed. Being a part of a group of like-minded people we settled in this sanctuary of nature, calm and good, fresh, natural food. The Italian owner was were helpful and we soon feel like a big family. I will have those couple of days engraved in my memory forever!

We had a great stay at Makathanee! We splurged and had a beach view bungalow … which was amazing! The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfy, the view was amazing and the sound of the surf was loud. The resort grounds are pretty and well maintained. We never went to the pool but walked by and nobody was there. The chairs on the grass by the beach were always full. The beach was clean and inviting and the water was warm. Good things: nice (10/10) staff, good breakfast, nice restaurant on the roof and good location. We had a few meals nearby on the street and rented a bike to explore the island. We also enjoyed the restaurants and bars on the beach nearby. You are not isolated at this resort. Not so good things: the only thing we didn’t like was the old, broken chairs on our patio and on the grass. Not that important- but something they could plan to replace. The hotel is in the northeast of the island. There is a small island opposite the hotel where you can take a boat. It is said that there are deer on the island. The hotel rooms are not bad, and the clean facilities are OK. The cabins upgraded after arriving at the store, the lights are slightly dim. But it doesn't matter if you fall asleep after playing at night. The front desk of the hotel should not like to talk much. There was basically no communication a few days ago. But the night before I left, my friend was injured while riding a motorcycle. The hotel staff drove the friend to the hospital as soon as possible, helped call the doctor, and waited with us for a long time. Thank you very much. The people on the island are very friendly and warm.

Calm and quite! Prefect place to vine down and relax. Excellent snorkling possibilities along the pier and nice sun beds and bar at the pier. Good pool as well for all ages. Covid has hit the island hard and the resort is in need of guests and some thorough maintenance. Some renovation is ongoing but the silent years has left its mark. Hopefully they will rebound because the resort is really nice. Definitely worth to visit!

The resort has a stunning outlook onto the sea, great, but small pool, great rooms, some with roof terraces & is very relaxed. The restaurant's food is superbly presented, however unfortunately, the service is poor and let it down. Both times we dined there we had to go and find our own menus, noone brought them to us. The food took a long time to come and, though it was well-presented, some of it was cold. They forgot my wife's main dish and despite enquiring about it twice with a waitress who didn't seem to speak English and just giggled and walked off, it never arrived. This was really disappointing and marred our stay which would have otherwise been very relaxing. After we complain they did eventually apologise and discounted out bill by one dish but it wasn't great. The resort can arrange golf buggy hire for you to tour the island for 800 THB for 5 hours (that and 10 hours only options - no shorter time) which is worth doing. Also nice to walk out on the sand when the tide goes all the way out
