Popular Koh Mak 4-star Hotels

An incredible stay at Mira Montra from start to finish. We were so impressed by the service, including pick up from the boat (which we didn't even explain when we were due to arrive), the free kayaks/paddle boards, the complimentary afternoon tea, quality of the rooms and the caring nature of the staff. They helped to arrange and drop us off at our next boat, which made it much less stressful. We really enjoyed the breakfast. The view was to die for, and the resort itself was a close bike ride to the other bars/restaurants. We can not comment about the lunch or dinner in the hotel as we ate elsewhere and also rented a bike from down the road. I'm so glad we made this trip and chose to stay here. I would definitely recommend!

A really nice place, a 3 star hotel but better than that in many ways. For example the staff - and particularly Noi in the reception - were outstanding! Noi helped us with renting motorbikes (an old charming Honda Prestige!), arranging boat tickets, she gave us tips on good restaurants etc. Always with a big smile on her face, she was the cutest you can imagine. The hotel was clean, quiet and we had a stunning ocean view from our balcony, really nice. Ok, the breakfast was small, but still...it is not the Hilton and it still was fresh and you can also order bacon and egg. The lunch and dinner menu was smaller but also fine. The pool was taken care of every day, they have an infinity pool and you have the best of views from there... One day the lock did not work to our room, and Noi came to our help immediately. “Don’t worry! I will stay here outside your door until the janitor fixes the lock!”. We went outside to our motorbikes and before leaving Noi came running. - It has been mended, everything is ok again, have a nice day! Noi was smiling from the minute we entered the hotel and until standing outside waving goodbye when we left 4 days later. We will never forget her!

The resort has a stunning outlook onto the sea, great, but small pool, great rooms, some with roof terraces & is very relaxed. The restaurant's food is superbly presented, however unfortunately, the service is poor and let it down. Both times we dined there we had to go and find our own menus, noone brought them to us. The food took a long time to come and, though it was well-presented, some of it was cold. They forgot my wife's main dish and despite enquiring about it twice with a waitress who didn't seem to speak English and just giggled and walked off, it never arrived. This was really disappointing and marred our stay which would have otherwise been very relaxing. After we complain they did eventually apologise and discounted out bill by one dish but it wasn't great. The resort can arrange golf buggy hire for you to tour the island for 800 THB for 5 hours (that and 10 hours only options - no shorter time) which is worth doing. Also nice to walk out on the sand when the tide goes all the way out

We chose this place without knowing much about the island of ko mak. The hotel is very pleasant, green environment, the huts are pretty and clean, the swimming pool is a big plus and pleasant. The only concern is that you have to rent a scooter to get around, which was done through the hotel.

We had a great stay at Makathanee! We splurged and had a beach view bungalow … which was amazing! The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfy, the view was amazing and the sound of the surf was loud. The resort grounds are pretty and well maintained. We never went to the pool but walked by and nobody was there. The chairs on the grass by the beach were always full. The beach was clean and inviting and the water was warm. Good things: nice (10/10) staff, good breakfast, nice restaurant on the roof and good location. We had a few meals nearby on the street and rented a bike to explore the island. We also enjoyed the restaurants and bars on the beach nearby. You are not isolated at this resort. Not so good things: the only thing we didn’t like was the old, broken chairs on our patio and on the grass. Not that important- but something they could plan to replace.
