Islanda Resort Hotel

Very good room, our sea view was awesome . Great location to some of the best beaches. Helpful staff organised a scooter for our arrival. Lovely pool. Would highly recommend

Please check k out our other reviews to see we always leave an honest opinion. Upon arrival hotel looked lovely. Got to reception and before we could even walk up the stairs we were shouted at to remove shoes. No issues really just a bit taken aback. Check in was easy but we were informed strictly no shoes to be worn in the resort ? Room was lovely but we were advised no TVs were working. I know ur not on hols to watch tv but we do like to put tv on when getting ready etc but not really an issue. We had travelled quite a few hours to get there and we went out to get food and planned on early evening. Noted no one in reception after 7pm and night porter doesn’t speak english. We realised we had left key in room so the night porter had to get the owner who was in the room next door to our room. The look and lecture we received was unreal we didn’t do it on purpose but you would swear we committed a crime. Breakfast was basic but lovely and was always being refilled. Pool area was high up and it was extremely windy so we didn’t really sit there. Much but it would be fabulous if it wasn’t so windy. Not the hotels fault I know, but did need to mention this. We also had another row as we had been out on a golf cart exploring and had a wash and some dust/dirt came off onto the towel. We were advised not to do this as if it wasn’t able to be cleaned we would be charged ? The major sticking point for us personally was the owner. It was a beautiful hotel, surroundings and location but from every corner of the resort you could hear her voice. Very loud, shouting at staff, it came across like she wanted everyone to know that she was the boss and it got quite tiring at times. On checkout we were waiting to go to the ferry and she literally shouted at us I don’t know how many times to sit down and wait. As though standing was making the place look untidy. She was extremely loud and bossy and it somewhat ruined the experience of a beautiful island. Would we stay again ? Unsure. Loved the hotel, not so much the owner

What a hidden gem! We have been to Koh Mak before and this is the best hotel we have been staying on. We stayed on the hotel on the other side of the street but it was terrible so we changed to Islanda and I wished we had boked Islanda in the first place. It’s clean, no insects in the room, very good food, the staff is amazing, the breakfast is really good and the view - the best view in Koh Mak!! The hotel looks newly renovated now after covid and I really hope they keep this standard! We had the room with pool view and then we upgraded to the room with both pool view and sea view which both was amazing. The location is also great, really close to everything but still very calm (no dogs etc). We are going home tomorrow but if we go back to Koh Mak this is definitely the hotel we will stay on!
