The Sunset Beach Resort - Koh Kho Khao

The hotel is located on Kekao Island, 110km from Phuket, a 2-hour drive. The car ferry time to the island is 8:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, and the boat ferry time is 20 minutes. The first impression when arriving at the hotel is that it is remote and old. The room is very large, but the towels are old. The bedding is much better than the towels. The bathroom is huge and the condition is acceptable. There are many elderly people in Western Europe, and they seem to live here all the time, so after staying there for a day, I felt that it was really nice here. The breakfast is not rich, but there are plenty of Thai food, fruits, drinks, and Western breakfast. It is no problem to eat well. The beach is nice with small waves, perfect for swimming in the sea. Only hotel guests play on the beach, which is basically exclusive and very pleasant.

We only had lunch at the hotel restaurant. On the beach, welcoming staff. We enjoyed a seafood salad. Good quantity at a fair price. We recommend this establishment 15 minutes from the pier on the main road then left towards the beach

Magnificent Resort with a flat beach of fine sand, ideal for those seeking peace and relaxation. Beautiful large bungalows, a little old but still in excellent condition. We were in an excellent position in the first row overlooking the sea. Change of linen, towels and beach towels every day (for a three-star hotel excellent and above the norm). 2 bottles of water and a kettle in the room. Breakfast adequate for a three-star hotel, always lots of fresh fruit available, perhaps for Europeans the cereal and dried fruit corner is very limited. Most of the clientele in the main house is Russian while in the bungalows there are elderly people like us of various nationalities. Excellent price for an old Thai style resort now unobtainable because they have been replaced by large blocks of flats with winding pools, useless for swimming. Here there is a beautiful and large central pool, even if with few deckchairs and very few umbrellas, one of the few non-optimal points. On the beach there is a large area for deckchairs and a kilometre-long beach for those who love walking on the shoreline. Restaurant with excellent prices, good and abundant dishes and a varied choice. Very quiet and silent the whole Resort, only a couple of small children that you can hear crying every now and then. A place for adults looking for peace in an idyllic nature. A little uncomfortable to get to the Resort. You have to take a taxi from Phuket airport to the Baan pier then with a small boat cross the river (5 minutes) at the current price 2025 of 30 Baht per person and once you arrive on the island of Ko Kho Khao if you call the Resort they will come and pick you up in 10 minutes otherwise there are private transports that ask 300 Baht for the trip (8 kilometers and about ten minutes of travel. On the beach both on the right and left there are other restaurants nearby. We found the market only upon arrival at the Pier and on the road to the Resort but you need a scooter to get there. Price 2025 of the scooter for rent 300 Baht per day. For those who love massages on the beach every day the masseuses arrive and work all day. In a word everything is magnificent.

Traurig fürt dieses schöne Resort, denn es hat die schönsten Zimmer auf der Insel und auch das Personal ist mega freundlich und aufmerksam. Doch leider ist es seit Januar 2025 zu 90% mit Russen belegt. Kein Benehmen, nur Fingersprache, die Tische sehen aus wie S.. und immer wollen sie die ersten sein. Beim Frühstück wurde dann auch leider nichts mehr nachgelegt. Liegen am Strand... Müssen morgens vor 6 Uhr reserviert werden, da das Hotel leider viel zu wenig davon besitzt. Wenn überhaupt, kommt nicht mal eine Liege auf ein Doppelzimmer. Schade ist auch, das man als westeuropäische Gäste immer ein wenig hinten dran steht. Für uns kommt das Hotel nicht mehr in Frage.
