Hide-Away Guest House

This is a really excellent located Guest House, overlooking the lagoon and the Knysna Heads. Rooms are modern, clean and spacious. Breakfast prepared to order. Colleen and Cecil made us very welcome and provided invaluable guidance on where to go and where to eat. we will be returning.

Beautiful, spacious, freshly renovated room. Very comfortable. Kind and helpful hosts took care of our every need. A great place to stay to explore Knysna and the surrounding area. Our hosts gave great guidance about places to eat and explore; useful, as we had not previously visited the area .

A beautiful, newly renovated guest house with the sweetes managers (Cecil and Colleen). We felt very welcome. Our room was spacious, clean and really nice with access to shared terrasse. Unfortunately the noise from the nearby road made it a less fun experience to sit there. You cannot hear the road when windows/door is closed, so it won’t bother your sleep.

We were 2 couples staying 3 nights in the upstairs veranda bedrooms (not suites). Lovely friendly managers who are extremely helpful. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished in a modern fresh look. The bedrooms downstairs all had their own entrances very near the pool. You are close to N2 which you can hear if sitting outside but the positive is you can get anywhere very quickly. Cecil does a lovely breakfast. Colleen is very good at getting restaurants to squeeze you in . Lovely stay

I was welcomed warmly, helped with anything and got very nice recommendations for activities, Restaurants etc. The room was with a great view directly in the water, which was very big. The bathroom was complety new and very well equiped. I would absolutely come back next Time.

clean and neat, bed was amazing, woke up refreshed and well rested. Host was very helpful informative and polite. had a great chat on arrival, felt like we have known each other for years. The accommodation was amazing, as mentioned before, the view is something else. Had to take Foto's to try and take the memory home. Very satisfied with the stay and thoroughly enjoyed it, will definitely recommend it to anyone. Thank you, Cecille and Colleen.

Hideaway guesthouse was a very nice house with some beautiful views. Colleen and Cecil were really helpful and could give us a lot of tips where to go, and they also booked trips for us. Overall we had a really nice stay in this beautiful house and with these friendly hosts.

This was one of the most difficult reviews to write. In the end I gave 4 points and not 3 as I wanted, but only because both owners are so extremely nice, helpful and lovely. Also, if you like old fashioned, historical buildings and are ok with such rooms, this will be your 5 points guest house. On the very positive note: the owners are really amazing. They treat the guests like friends, will always give you an advice on activities, call you a cab and take care of you. The pool area in front of the house and the view on the veranda is great, you overlook the Knysna lagoon and the location is very good in general. I always did not see the other rooms, so it can be that they are more spacious. Our room was rather small, with carpet floor and the bathroom facilities were really old. The room was overall really not nice to stay in. Very old fashioned. I know that the photos of the rooms look good and maybe it was just the one small and carpet laid room, we had, but you should make sure, which room you get, before booking. It was also a little bit disturbing that you have to order your breakfast the day before, as usually I don't know in the evening, what and how much I will want to eat in the morning. Also you have to pro-actively ask to change your breakfast order for each day, otherwise you will just get the same things over and over again. So we had 6 hotels on our trip in total in SF and I must say that from the premises this was the most disappointing one, but the hospitality of the owners and the location still pulls it up to a 4 in my opinion.

Booked as short notice, literally 60 minutes before arrival. Cecil & Colleen welcomed us with a cold glass of wine. Recommended restaurants that we could use during load shedding.
