I spent 1 night only in this hotel when I stopped for a layover during a road trip around Iceland. I do not regret I picked this hotel because it is very nice. Plenty of free parking at the hotel. The hotel is modern and mostly updated. Unfortunately, the only one area in the hotel which seemed a little bit outdated was my room, but I still felt super comfortable and liked it a lot. Check-in was super fast. I booked an Economy room, but I believe that the front desk guy upgraded me to a Standard Room for free, because an Economy room seemed small in the pictures, but the room I got was very big. I did not really like being on the first floor, to be honest, because people could easily see me through the window, so I always had to keep the curtains closed. By the way, I really loved the big and long window in my room, the room was bright because of much daylight. The bed in my room was super comfortable. The bathroom was pretty big, but it was the most outdated looking part of the room. I wish it looked newer and more modern. I loved having a bathtub there which was big too and fit me (6 feet tall) perfectly. Unfortunately, the shower did not work well. Actual shower knob was broken and shower did not work at full power. Also the bathtub was missing a plug to block water from draining. So I had to go to the front desk and asked for the plug. A guy took it from a different room. The bathroom amenities were of a very bad quality and smelled bad. Wi-Fi was working very fast. The hotel has a little spa area for extra money, but it is closed at 9 p.m. every day. I came to the hotel at 8 p.m., so I did not have a chance to try it. I wish they closed it later. But I tried food in the hotel’s restaurant, and it was very disappointing! Expensive and very bad tasting! Do not waste your money for that pork filet on the menu. Meanwhile, I fully recommend this hotel if you need to lay over and you want to chill around in the nature. The scenery around the hotel is truly beautiful!

We have sleeped in one of the small boxes with a curved roof that only seeing them is worth the price, they look like the Lord of the Rings. The family ”cassette” has a main environment and a micro-site, where only one bed (maybe not suitable for claustrophobic people) comes into, in practice, like being in a tent, but with roof and wooden walls. There is also a beautiful chair with a mini-fridge (in my opinion, unusual), and the price is very low for the average Icelandic prices. The basic price should be added to the rental of covered beds and towels (if you don't have them on your own), and I also think we were about 100 euros. The camping offers all the services you can want, the bathrooms are very clean (although they are few for the potential affluence - I never really expected to go to the bathroom) and there are two areas with kitchen and dining room. I recommend the excellent restaurant with a magnificent glass with views of cascades and nature. The Troll Garden is also very nice, perfect for a walk, whether you have children or without. It was also the first place where we saw the Aurora: if you climb into the hill where the Troll Garden is, you have no light disturbances and You can enjoy the splendour of the lights of the North ... There are also water-massing baths with heated water. We didn't use them because they were always full. But there are other thermal areas I recommend, such as Krauma, near the campsite. We had the luck of good weather and mite temperatures, but certainly if you have to go to the night's bathroom in the cold maybe the experience may not be fantastic (but it is obviously part of the camping life). There are also private bathrooms, but the price is rising.

Hotel Husafell

This amazing hotel is located about 90 minutes to two hours north of Reykjavik and it's worth the journey. Very clean rooms, comfy beds and a wonderful restaurant. Check in was really easy and our room was ready. They do wake you if the Northern Lights appear, and we were in the perfect spot for tours in The Cave and to the Glacier. A couple of tips - housekeeping is done 3pm to 5pm rather than in the morning. The restaurant gets really busy so book your tables before you arrive. The hotel is about half an hour from the nearest supermarket, and the fridge in your room is empty so stock up if you think you might need anything specific. There is a minimarket nearby but it's not well stocked.
