I stayed an entire week here and can only say what a lovely place it is. Both the rooms and the restaurant have a beautiful view of the river and the surrounding hills. It is the perfect stay for a birdwatcher as myself, with both very good birdwatching in the hotel gardens, as well as direct access to the small boat across the river to Makandawa reserve. It is just a couple of minutes with tuktuk to other hotspots like the area around the police station, the suspension bridge, and the power plant. The entire staff was always on tiptoe to assist me in anything and I was offered a ride in of the staff’s personal tuktuk, as well as home baked sweets by another one. As a birdwatcher it is _the_ place to stay as all birdwatching tours pass here, so everyday you will meet fellow birders who are happy to connect. Also you see a lot of Sri Lankees guests, like school trips, birthdays parties, pilgrims, which brings a nice atmosphere to the place. The rooms are clean and reasonably cool (even without ac) due to closeness to the river. I ate almost all my meals at the restaurant during the week. It is often buffet or sometimes set menu, or a al carte. Everything is delicious and very fresh. The staff is also helpful explaining about the food. I can only give this place my highest recommendations and true love!

We've been visiting the Kithulgala Rest House for over three decades now. It's one of those timeless stops—sometimes to simply enjoy the scenic beauty and a refreshing dip in the river. More often, though, it's our go-to spot for a delicious meal or a comforting cup of tea, all while soaking in the view. The clean washrooms and truly Sri-Lankan atmosphere make it an ideal stopover on our journeys through this charming area. They serve tasty sandwiches with tea, (have to order separately) and everything is reasonably priced, which adds to the appeal. Just last week, we dropped in for breakfast on our way to Nuwara Eliya and were treated to a hearty, scrumptious Sri Lankan breakfast accompanied by a lovely cup of tea. The young lady who served us, along with the rest of the staff, was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making the experience even more pleasant. P. S. Since I haven't stayed here, I can't rate rooms

A staple when travelling upcountry is to stop at Kithulgala Rest House to have a meal during our journey. Over the years, we have come to anticipate the delicious food, the lovely atmosphere, the friendly staff and the calming sounds of the river that flows right by this property. We have never spent the night here, but I have lost count of the number of times we have visited this lovely spot for a good meal and a much needed rest.

Good location with basic accommodation. Overwhelmingly the best feature is the lovely view across the river to the forest and next to the paddled ferry across to the trails. My room was basic and tired looking. It did have both AC and a fan, both of which worked. In the sink in the bathroom i could only get a dribble of water and in the shower only cold water, even after they came to fix it and told me it was fixed. when there were a lot of people there was a buffet in the restaurant which was basic and i did not care for.. the last morning of our three day stay had a served breakfast which was in contrast to the buffet good. Had a plate of fresh fruit, a smoothie and they cooked me an omelette. Only bread no toast. Hard to find a place to plug in a charger in my room; so i unplugged the TV socket and used that.

Last week I visit this beautiful place with my family. I just want to show this place to my daughter because this is our honeymoon place when we got married. When I contact over the phone before arrived I get a call and one lady answered. When I ask questions even she don't know to speak English and I tried to speak in Sinhala but she don't know to handle guest well. Then she drop the line. Finally we arrived and I met a manager and that's the worst thing I ever met in this type of standard hotels. He also don't know to speak well in English. Truly very disappointed and this may a big tourist arrived place. I don't know why your management team was not considered this. I love this place since my childhood. Please protect this with applying good management team to this with professionals. At least try to apply good front office staff and manager
