I visited here after my daughter’s graduation for dinner, 3 of us. I had the lasagne, I can honestly say that it was the worst lasagne I have ever had, wasn’t nice tasting and a poor size portion for £15. My Daughters had Cajun chicken pasta and a cheeseburger, pasta was nice and the burger was just ok. I didn’t want to complain at the time as my Daughters would have been embarrassed, and it was a very young waitress who was very busy on a Friday night. I had been away for a few days afterwards with family. When I returned, I phoned The Coachman a week after the meal and spoke to someone on reception. He spoke to the manager and chef and called me back to say they wouldn’t offer anything because of the time scale of informing them after the meal. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and wouldn't return.

Had my wedding at the coachman on the 28th of September. Everything was okay leading up, communication wasn’t the best leading up but we got past that. Night before my wedding I phoned to query a room a family member had booked (family room) as she had checked in night before my wedding and was told that the room had been booked by someone else. Complete misunderstanding as it had been put under a different family members name which was fine but when I phoned to query this I spoke to the owner whose attitude was disgusting. He confused the situation by telling me it was booked by someone who wasn’t a family member (even though it was). When I was voiced that I was upset and that the coachman had not made my wedding planning experience any easier from the beginning I was hit with the response “Well, weddings are stressful” to which I was then getting spoken over and when I voiced “this is why I wanted to speak to a manager” he came back with “Well, I’m actually the owner of the business” in the most arrogant way. The conversation then started to feel like an attack and very personal- the most unprofessional from someone who runs a business- genuinely couldn’t believe how I was being spoken to. The owner was offended I sent an email of “complaints” to say I was upset with communication (even though it wasn’t a complaint just feedback). If you can’t take feedback on board or the fact that your actions and behaviour are going to upset your customers then maybe you shouldn’t be running a business in the first place. My wedding day was incredible besides this, food was lovely, function room was stunning, apart from the fact when tables were moved off the dance floor, things were missing off tables, guests drinks thrown away and things I’m assuming were thrown in the bin upon cleaning up. When I queried this and where some of our decor and memorial things had gone I was told everything was given back to us (it wasn’t). Just felt like an annoying customer most the time and that people didn’t want to listen to me. Very shut down. We chose the coachman as initially service was lovely and the events room was beautiful but I would absolutely not be coming back again. They did nothing to try take the weight off or make it that little bit more special. I’m just glad I had a lovely day with my guests but think the owner needs to take the chip off his shoulder.

Been meaning to review this place after our first visit in May. We have since been a further 3 times. First time we visited was with my parents. We all had the Sunday roast, AMAZING. We also found the staff to be absolutely lovely and so efficient. They did not stop our whole visit. Place as a whole is lovely, comfortable with a great atmosphere and importantly clean. My husband and I have visited ourselves after our first visit. Again, cannot fault these visits or the delicious food we have had. Since the Sunday roast, we have had the chicken skewers, fish & chips, curry and enchilada/burrito. Delicious. We are already looking forward to our next visit to try something else.

We visited the coachman for dinner on 8/7/2024 we where seated and given menus and we ordered three large Pepsi max the drinks arrived and full to the top with ice so much ice the glass was almost clear and little taste of Pepsi. We ordered a minestrone soup /lentil soup / butter chicken. The minestrone soup was really thick and an overpowering taste of garlic purée the lentil soup had clumps of stock/ bullion at bottom and butter chicken was bland we had mains of battered fish and chips / lasagne alforno/ Cajun chicken rice and peppercorn sauce the fish had a strong stomach churning smell coming from it the lasagne was dry and bland and it came with a Caesar salad which was wilted and warm the Cajun chicken was average. We asked the restaurant supervisor if he could take the fish away he told it is ok we get it delivered every day I asked him again and told him to take it to the kitchen and check it himself he agreed and came back and offered us another choice which we took homemade chicken tikka masala this dish lacked flavour and was overly sweetened for this dish .we had sides of garlic bread and chips the chips where great but no flavour of garlic on bread . I told the server that the food was poor and the server apologised. Once we left my wife called to speak to manager to complain and they said thanks we appreciate the feed back 😂😂😂😂 hope this is helpful for anybody looking to visit the coachman . This is an accurate and honest review of our visit.

Visited the restaurant tonight with family. Food was average and expensive for what it is. Staff very efficient and food came out quickly (and hot!) but the young staff are utterly miserable, take order, put down food, ask if you want anything else, take your money. Our family have been regulars for a while but we feel its perhaps time for a change.

Has gone downhill of late. We had a family get together for a very special occasion. Three steaks ordered of different cooking requests, all arrived the same. Meat very dry and for the price overrated. That was all that we got on the plate, chips etc were extra. Other meals had mushy pastry on the steak pie which is now a steak and sausage pie. Saving grace the parking was good. Last time I will visit this once excellent eateries. Shame

Lovely room , clean and well decorated. Food good and staff very helpful! Easy check in . Menu varied and very well cooked. We felt well looked after and would certainly stay again. Kilsyth is a good spot for trips to Stirling, Glasgow or Falkirk. You can get the train to Edinburgh from Croy

We visited with family members this Easter for the first time in about a year. Most of us had the Sunday roast, which looked fabulous however it didn't live up to our expectations. Portions are definitely smaller than previously & the food is quite bland. The Coachman always had a local reputation for huge portions, great value for money & full of flavour. Not so much now.

We went her on 21.02.24 to celebrate my ladies birthday. All the food was lovely and portions were good. Couple of things, although maybe just my palette, but there was a bit too much Dijon mustard in the Stroganoff for my liking and the Cheesy Garlic Bread had way too much cheese on it. Couldnt taste the garlic. It was a starter on its own. Tasted delicious, that said. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Staff superb and very attentive. Will definably be back.
