Looking for an easy way to meet up with an old friend who lives some distance away, so went for a special offer of dinner B&B and wine in the room for £99 for two. At that price, I didn't have high expectations, but was very happily surprised. Reception was small, clean and welcoming and our ground floor room was immaculate, with very comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom looked to be recently refurbished and pristine. The biggest surprise for me was the food. Yes, a limited "pub grub" type menu, but what can you expect at that price? What we got was, I think, some of the best pub grub I've ever tasted. Haggis bonbons came with a fresh, lively pink peppercorn sauce, and you could taste the peppercorns pop in your mouth. Tattie scone nachos were inspired! My only criticism is that they are a huge portion and I hated leaving anything behind. For mains we both chose the beer battered fish. The fish might have been a little small for some people, but it was perfect for me, especially after I'd troughed my way through the nachos! The batter was light and crispy with no grease to be found. My heart sank a bit when skinny fries came served in a metal "bucket". I'm not a fan of skinny fries because they're usually frozen and become cold and soggy too quickly. Not these though.....they were clearly hand cut, they stayed crisp and hot, thanks to that bucket, and way to much for me to eat. The meal came with small separate bowls of mushy peas and the star of the show, tartar sauce. Now, I'm not a fan of tartar sauce. It's usually thin with the odd little lumps, too vinegary and the only other flavour you get is overwhelming dill (I think!). This sauce was thick, unctuous, acidic enough for a bit of zing, lots of interesting vegetable bits and a really well balanced, interesting flavour - no being blasted with dill! I can honestly say that I could have eaten it with a spoon! Add to that a small but very affordable wine list and even the free wine in the room was a decent Merlot . Service was efficient, friendly and fast. Breakfast was buffet style and while it wouldn't set the world on fire for originality, it was fresh, hot and plentiful. All in, it was a really enjoyable experience and at a price less than what we would have paid for lunch alone in Glasgow city centre. I really struggle to understand the negative reviews on here. I'm planning to try out their Sunday lunch this weekend with my family - and I've already booked another overnight stay with a different friend next week.

Start with the positives, friendly staff & food was fabulous especially the haggis at breakfast. Now the room, room 9 was quite dark & dated. The handy man needs to get things sorted, curtains hanging, pictures missing & ill fitted, bleach stains on the carpet, rips on the headboard. Mould around the bath, hairdryer in bathroom very dusty. The mattress was brick hard and the pillows were very flat.

Had a lovely overnight stay. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Bar area was cosy and the restaurant was nicely decorated. Food in the restaurant was good and the buffet breakfast had a good choice of food. I'd like to give a shout out to Caroline on reception who dealt with a query I had with my bill very promptly and professionally even though the mistake was mine and had caused her unnecessary work. Will definitely be back.

- An overall delicious meal. 👍 - The Tattie Scone Nachos starter is a great idea & works surprisingly well. 🍽️ - The Fenwick Hotel Sizzler was exceptionally good, I’ve not tasted a curry as tasty in a long time. 🥘 - The service was very pleasant, well timed and organised (manager Jamie). It’s been a while since we were here last, but we certainly won’t be waiting that long before we are back again. 👍

Very easy to find off the M77. Very warm welcome on arrival and no issue with us being early. We were in room 5 and initial reservations about being so close to the motorway were very quickly dispelled as there was no traffic noise that worried us at all in the room. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and a good size. Had a drink in the lounge bar which was reasonably priced. Booked in for an amazing dinner and food was definitely cooked to order. Everything was delicious, piping hot and very well presented. The two staff were brilliant and very friendly and took time to have a chat with you which was great as the restaurant was very busy. Super comfy beds and had a good nights sleep despite 6 women who had congregated in the next room who thought it would be great to make a noise and slam doors at midnight on their way back to their own rooms! Nothing to do with the hotel just the usual entitlement of some people with no thought for other guests. Mentioned the issue to the receptionist and she was so apologetic but as we said it was not a hotel issue. Breakfast was lovely and loads of choice with extra tea/coffee not an issue. The black pudding was the best I’ve tasted. Would definitely return when we are in the area again.

Visited for dinner with my partner at end of December. It’s been years since I’ve been in here. Overall it was ok, but some small changes could make it great. There is a distinct lack of atmosphere at dinner. Supermarket lighting and a vast dining area make it feel clinical and quite unpleasant. Some partitions and moody lighting would instantly improve it. Staff were attentive but it was empty anyway. Food was ok, goat cheese tart starter was dry and bland. The mains were decent pub grub, tasty, homely and good value. This doesn’t market itself as a pub though, it’s giving boutique hotel but the grub just isn’t up to standard and the options were limited. Overall for two people it wasn’t expensive but not what we were hoping for. Can’t comment on the rooms but I wouldn’t rush back for food alone unfortunately. I imagine they make their money through rooms. The restaurant could be amazing but it seems forgotten.

A truly awful experience I had booked for Chistmas eve (my wife's birthday) we chose meals from the set Christmas menu. After waiting almost an hour and a complaint about the delay we were told it was on its way 15 mins later the mains turned up. I'd Iike to say it was worth the wait but it certainly was not. The food was poor and not to be recommended. We were running short of time so cancelled the puddings 2 mins later they turned up anyway. The service was especially poor but I suppose that's what you get with young poorly trained staff. The Fenick hotel used to be good for meals and a night out but sadly is now a place to be avoided at all costs

Attended party night at the Fenwick. 1. Food was terrible. Lukewarm soup, overcooked burnt beef very fatty, veg mostly inedible..too hard even to get fork into. Turkey? is that what it was. 2. Staff miserable and not enough on bar. 3. Thank goodness for the photo booth..that was the best entertainment. 4. About half of guests left after meal so atmosphere wasn't great. Will definitely not be back and don't recommend.

Attended a meeting at this hotel. The experience was amazing and I have to mention the following members of staff who were so friendly and attentive during our visit. They are Aileen, Fiona, Adam, Will, Colin and Dan. They are great ambassadors for the company. Food was excellent and the menu caters for all tastes. Will be back for sure.
