Abbey Lodge

We stayed here both before and after a Kerry Way hike, booked by our tour company. Beds were comfortable both times, in different sections of the hotel. Stairs are old and uneven so folks with mobility issues might want to inquire about rooms. Coffee and tea were available all day, but not during the night. Breakfast was to order and was very good. It's a 10 minute walk to the center of Killarney, an easy walk except for sometimes heavy traffic. Cross at the corner, people! Laundry center a block one way, and several small groceries nearby as well, so everything you need. You can also walk right into the park, through lovely gardens, and down to the castle, about 1/2 hour. We enjoyed our stay here. It isn't luxury, and some furnishings are dated, but it's clean and staff are very nice. Also the train station is about 10 minutes away.

We arrived in Kilarney on day 5 of road trip and managed to get the last room in this lovely accommodation Wonderful polite greeting on arrival to an excellent comfortable clean room. The location is excellent and literally 3 minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants but far enough away no noise so a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast with polite professional welcoming hosts. Absolutely no reservation in recommending Abbey Lodge.

Great place to stay, warm and welcoming, and the room had a lot of storage. The breakfast was so good, and the staff very nice and friendly. This place is very well-located. There is also a lot of artwork on the walls which I really enjoyed looking at! Would recommend to others!

We stayed here after a week long bike ride around the Ring of Kerry. It was a welcome respite with a nice location close to town. The road it is on is very busy so not the most quiet setting. At night the traffic quiets down, though. Delicious breakfast included.

Not at all like the pictures. Room was barely adequate. Very old and needs an upgrade badly. Bathroom was funky and we had to lug our heavy suitcases upstairs ourselves. No help offered. Would never come here again. A travel agent booked us here. I would call it threadbare.

A nice stay at the Abbey Lodge hotel with the building being a lovely boutique style with a homely feel to it. Check in was very quick and no fuss which is a major plus when you have been travelling for hours in the car with kids. Centrally located for all amenities and with accommodation now being restricted in this wonderful part of the world the Abbey is a shining light that will no doubt be fully booked every time as its very very good. Towels and bedding are plentiful with toiletries good, only gripe I had was the soap dispenser beside sink looked a bit old and shower controls with hot water were a bit difficult to control. Breakfast is also not cheap at 15 euro a pop but it is good, but you can buy a lot of food for e15 from tesco! Anyway a minor gripe but the Abbey is excellent for staff, actual hotel accommodation and location and I will certainly go again for friendliness and comfort.
