This place was stunning! Our room was huge, well-appointed and a had a beautiful view of the garden and castle. Our bathroom was up a set of stairs in our suite. It had a towel warming rack which was a great addition since the morning air was brisk. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious. My husband can't stop talking about his Begian Waffle.

We loved our stay here. The hotel is small and cozy, staffed by some of the most friendly and professional staff you will ever meet. They are in the heart of Kilkenny, only steps from the Kilkenny Castle, numerous shops, and lively pubs and restaurants. We had breakfast in the restaurant and drinks at the bar and were so delighted with everything. If in Kilkenny, you simply cannot beat Butler House! And be sure to enjoy the gardens behind the hotel. They are amazing!

Elegant hotel in the heart of Kilkenny. My family of 3 stayed in a Junior Suite with a garden view. The room was awesome - super spacious, comfortable beds, clean & modern bathroom, very nice decor. The hotel's garden backed up to Kilkenny Castle. Breakfast room was stylish & cozy with a garden room. Staff was very friendly & attentive. Only regret is that we didn't stay another night.

In recent years, we have tried to get a couple of days in Butler House in December. This was our fourth time to stay and again we had a wonderful time. As ever, staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a beautiful spacious room overlooking the gardens. The room was clean and tidy. Freshly cooked breakfast in the morning was a real positive together with a good selection of gluten free options. It definitely kept us going well into lunchtime ! Do remember this is an old building, so maybe the soundproofing is not up to modern standards and some doors door creak but that these are part of the overall charm of the house.

The bedroom was lovely and big as was the bathroom that had both a bath and a shower. The room had that ‘old’ feel which I like in buildings like that. There’s a fan in the room if you’re too warm and you only have to turn on the radiator if you’re cold. Breakfast was delicious. Everything is served to you, you can’t get anything yourself but the staff got anything we wanted. The staff were brilliant. They were all very friendly. The hotel is extremely close to Kilkenny Castle and many other places to visit are within walking distance. Great hotel, I’d stay here again.

Lovely staff and hotel. Location fantastic and nice grounds, breakfast area etc. Two small negatives were the bar area of the hotel, it is pretty unappealing, and I don’t tend to turn a beer down anywhere. No atmosphere or nice chairs to have a drink before a meal. Also charged €4 for a coffee at breakfast which is bizarre when rooms were over €300. Otherwise would recommend

Every single thing about this hotel is beautifully done. The Butler House, once a family home, is a fine, elegant hotel in the heart of Kilkenny. While the lobby is simple, the staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous and at the head of the staircase on the second floor, overlooking the street. The bed was huge, with soft sheets and a perfect pillow. We had comfortable upholstered chairs, a large wardrobe, and the carpet was plush and soft. The bathroom was large and well appointed. Breakfast each day was held in the breakfast room, which was lovely. Each morning we were seated right at the bow window over looking the garden - so pretty! We were able to order off the menu, always a treat, and our breakfasts were delicious, piping hot and made to order. I think the backyard was my favorite part - it was a grand and well designed walled family garden with huge, old shade trees, and large lawn, shrubbery and paved pathways all around. I could imagine family's children playing in the large garden. I would stay here again and again.

We had a wonderful stay at the ButlerHouse. Excellent location. You could walk to almost anywhere in town and they have their own walkway into the castle! We had an incredibly spacious room. While there was no noise from the rooms on either side of us, the sound proofing in the ceiling was terrible. We could easily hear the occupants talking and continually walking back and forth. Fortunately we had ear plugs and white noise apps on our phones. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and severed in a lovely dining room. We would recommend this hotel but bring ear plugs!
